Pritti (Cherry-Head Conure) -- Fly in Peace my beautiful boy. Forever I'll love you.
Some thoughts....I would see if u could bring bamboo over to her house and spend a at least a half hour to an hour per day until u leave. Stay with them and do a cage cleaning, feeding, cover if u do that for sleep, check toys, monitor food consumption, pick two places in her home that are SAFE for his cage not to hot or drafty, stress how important clean water, show her how to play with him from outside while cage is closed. Tell her no drafts and no extreme temps, etc. lastly, i would have a nice and serious brief conversation with neighbor telling her how much u love bamboo and how hard it is for u to leave him, and that u really appreciate that she is doing this big favor for you and your mom, and that you know she is a good person that bamboo will be happy healthy and safe with her with the care instructions you will write down and show her. Thank her for the care of your beloved bamboo.. Explain that he must stay inside his cage for safety because in a strange place birds might fly away, fly into walls or windows, toilet bowls, on stovetop, get under foot, top of door, etc and that u cant risk an injured or flyaway bird.
