need help!! im leaving bamboo here!!

Some thoughts....I would see if u could bring bamboo over to her house and spend a at least a half hour to an hour per day until u leave. Stay with them and do a cage cleaning, feeding, cover if u do that for sleep, check toys, monitor food consumption, pick two places in her home that are SAFE for his cage not to hot or drafty, stress how important clean water, show her how to play with him from outside while cage is closed. Tell her no drafts and no extreme temps, etc. lastly, i would have a nice and serious brief conversation with neighbor telling her how much u love bamboo and how hard it is for u to leave him, and that u really appreciate that she is doing this big favor for you and your mom, and that you know she is a good person that bamboo will be happy healthy and safe with her with the care instructions you will write down and show her. Thank her for the care of your beloved bamboo.. Explain that he must stay inside his cage for safety because in a strange place birds might fly away, fly into walls or windows, toilet bowls, on stovetop, get under foot, top of door, etc and that u cant risk an injured or flyaway bird.

haha!! 20 birds is a lot!! how do you even manage them?? :p

In shifts :) Not all are "inside" birds, Cassie, some are in aviaries. There are 7 "inside" birds, which is some work....

hey, i tried to lessen the time bamboo is out of his cage. so i dint take him out for 2 days but its freaking him out. hes dying to come out. yesterday, while i was in school, he got out, and dint come in for hours. he was sitting on the fan, so my mom couldnt get him. hes pretty smart, he knows how to come out. howz he gonna manage for 15 days?? :(
@mike17:haha!! that's still a lot!

I'm sure he DOES want out lol - but you know what? He's going to be just fine for the 15 days you are away - and when you get back you can extra spoil him lol.

Wow. He knows how to get out...that means you have to know how to keep him in, lol. You can ise twist-ties like for trash bags, or better is tha plastic strip that gets pulled tight around wires. If u have tine you can get small padlocks like on liggage for all the doors except one (one without a lock in case keys are lost. But twist-tie or pipe cleaner good too, e en vet tape.

Cassie I can tell you really love Bamboo. He'll be okay, don't worry. Just try to call your neighbors every day to ease your worries.

I know how you feel, though. One or two weekends a month I have to leave to go out of town, and my mom birdsits my quaker. I freak out every time. I think its normal for us bird people to worry so much. He'll be fine, just have fun on your vacation.

And let your neighbors know they'll get a butt whoopin when you get back if they don't follow your rules.

G'day
