I am looking to build a flighted aviary for my parrots. Any suggestions on materials or places I can obtain safe aviary supplies? My husband and I are planning on building it our selves. Any advice/info is appreciated!
Im also about to build one this weekend I am using this wire for mine Memorial Day 2013 Event Savings stainless stell is bestof course but I cannot afford that so Im gonna clean this with vinegar
What materials are you wanting to use? Using stainless steal mesh is the safest but will cost you a lot. Many people used galvanized steal mesh, personally will never risk using that(it only takes one good nibble to get zinc poisoning!) but many people do without any problem.
A inexpensive materiel is PVC pipe, here is a web site about making a PVC aviary.
Well, I live in Oklahoma so obviously it must be really sturdy. My vet said that stainless was the way to go. I used to have a large flight aviary which housed parakeets and cockatiels. I used wire and did not have any problems but I am just exploring options. I have never made a flight cage to house larger birds. I have an eclectus and a conure and want to make one for each!
