Hi guys hope your all well. Im refurbishing My Quakers cage soon with an all natural theme and i know someone who has an apple tree which hasnt been sprayed or treated who says i can help myself. Ive done research but i need to triple check. Ive read letting Parrots chew the bark is healthy/fun/stimulating but another source is saying they need to be bleached ect. Whats your advice on this please? x

My advice is to cook the branches.... 250 degrees for 45 minutes to kill any bugs and parasites and then it should be safe to chew. Some say to pre-bleach before you cook them but since birds will be chewing on them I think just cooking the branches will be fine.

Thankyou Jean. Would this way be absolutly safe then? I tend to be really cautious when it comes to him. God bless x

I'm a long-time believer in removing all tree barks regardless. It is just not worth the problems from bugs of all sizes and chemicals of all kinds whether directly applied or floating in.

I have read that apple wood can be toxic during certain times of the year...I have seem this in a lot of places, as I was just recently researching this myself...You should check into it.
