Things are going well for us! I still haven't figured out a name yet, but I think it might be a girl, so I'm looking at a name that's either neuter, or female. I'd like her to have a somewhat elegant name. I was thinking of maybe Claudia or Pandora (both from the Vampire Chronicles, which I find fitting, because she's drawn blood, haha).
We're getting used to each other. She's less nippy and freaked out, and I'm learning how to read her better. It also seems to me like she's quieting down.
She really likes my boyfriend, and she also likes my guy friend. If one of them is around she seems to prefer sitting on them as opposed to me! When it's just the two of us, I'll do though. Maybe it's because they're taller, but the woman at the bird store said that a lot of them prefer humans of the opposite sex.
I took her to the Menagerie (parrot store + rescue) today and had her nails clipped because they were RAZOR sharp! I am glad that I had a professional do it. My baby was NOT happy! She screamed the whole time. The woman did a great job though. She clipped, filed, and applied clotting stuff just in case, although I didn't see any blood.
The woman looked at my baby's beak and I don't remember the word she used, but it's a little flaky looking, and she said that's a sign of mineral deficiency. The bird has been raised mostly on seeds, so I bought some better food (several frozen things so she can have a variety, plus some nuts with shells, and some good pellets), and will be making an effort to give her more fresh foods.
Right now she is sitting on my shoulder making little happy noises and playing with my hair. She likes it there, but objects violently when I try to remove her from my shoulder (or the top of my head, haha). I bought her some more toys today (and Saturday), and she really likes destroying the nerf ball.
My mom also bought her a big cage and toys for her house too, because she wants to babysit! I guess I shouldn't be surprised, because I know that she wants grandkids. LOL.
