Okay, sports fans, I just got a call from the vet with the results of "Fancy's" sex test. This 26-yr-old 'too, who has never laid an egg and nobody can figure out why, is actually a male!
Being that, I have decided the name "Fancy" just doesn't apply anymore. I was thinking of Francois (Frank for short), since it's similar enough to Fancy.

He still looks looks Fancy to me but Francis is also good and close to Fancy. He is beautiful!

Please don't try to change his use of pronouns. Anakin still calls himself, sweet baby girl, love that baby girl, good girl, pretty girl, etc. You get the picture.

In hindsight I truly believe that Jim(AmyMyBlueFront) has the best approach to this dilemma. Don't change anything, all it does is confuse the bird and you.

I changed Anna to Anakin because Anna has some bad memories for me.

Lol my GCC Burt the Bird I thought was a boy for ten years, when I got my second GCC I sent out DNA on both , before it came back that I had two girls he laid an egg! I knew he was a she but kept the name and just calling her a him. All he could say was his name so I just couldn't... Ta-dah still says his name just today actually.... Makes me miss him so much... But I'm still voting Fonzy !

Okay, all, I've made my decision. I've decided to go with sunshine.within's suggestion of Francis. That way we can call him Francie and it sounds very similar to Fancy. Also we can keep the singsong nicknames with small adjustments: "Francie schmancie" and "footloose and Francie free". He will still keep the title of "Fancy Man of Cornwood" though (reference from Futurama).


The only thing he ever learned to say was "hello" and "I love you" so the pronouns shouldn't be a problem.


I've changed the references in my profile here (I think). Now I just need to change my login id. Perhaps one of the moderators can help me with that :56:
