Now comes the fun part! Naming a talking amazon is special, because they often learn and speak their name!!

My only amazon (blue-front) is Gonzo. Very appropriate name, and he can say "Hi Gonzo, whaddya doing?"

Tiki. My reason my fiery shoulder conure died last September was called tiki and I Had him ten years.

Names are and should be special. Filled with meaning for you and understandable so that your baby can learn it with easy. The name should be acceptable to a wide cross-section of the Human's you and your baby will come in contact with over the next 40 to 70 years, i.e. some names may make sense in your home, but would be hard to explain to a mother-in-law, etc....

If you choose not to have your baby DNA sexed, it would be wise to select a name that is gender neutral.

With some Amazons, names that are common from the region they are naturally found is a good choice.

I'm not really big into selecting a name until the Amazon has been with us for a least a week or so. Lets just say that Amazon's tend to have big personalities and getting to know them is helpful. Thus a name better fits who they are.

Just my two cents!

The Rickeybird says everybody's name BUT his! And despite that he hates me he imitates what I say almost exclusively, including the names he says.

Well, I see that you like candy-based names, so... why not continue?
JollyRoger? Snickers? M&M (maybe he'll be a rapper)? PayDay? (Oh)Henry?

Toblerone

Tootsie Pops

Tootsie Roll

Same here..Amy says "HI AMY!".. A while back, I took her for awellness check..Amy was in her carrier, and when I approached the front desk to check in,she says very loudly...HI AMY!...the girl at the desk freaks out and says "OH MY GOD!!! HOW DOES SHE KNOW MY NAME!!!???!!" The girls name was Amy also :p
I told her that Amy was phycic lol..then I told her no,thats her name also lol..the girl let out a sigh of relief lol.

Naming a new fid/baby,can be stressful! The harder you think, the harder it gets,to think of something lol. I have found that NOT thinking about it,makes it a lot easier. All of my birdies names just "came" to me. I had the hardest time thinking of one for BB..I wanted something "unisexual", just in case Beebs is really a Beebett, and one day,POOF! it came to me! "BB" is short for "Baby Bird",which will work, even if he is a she  ;)

I also had a difficult time with Amys' name..her name is short for "Amy-zon"..get it? lol "Amy-zon"..."AMA-zon"?...ya ya...I know...CORNY! :p

Lewis or Lew for short :green:

We put a bunch of names into a hat and had my wife pick one out. Everybody got three names to put into the Hat. My suggestion was salty. I'm glad he got that name because some of the others suggested by my son's we're really off the wall. Yeah

Lol...well we decided upon a name. His name is Yoshi. That little green dinosaur from the mario brothers game. You know and the whole birds are decendants of dinosaurs thing. Seemed very fitting.

Yoshi is a great name!

Great name, as Yoshi means lucky or good in Japanese. Short for Yoshida, a proud and old family name, meaning lucky or good field.
Welcome little guy.
