My wife wants a second macaw...

Go for it, Stephen! I had macaws up to 8 years ag and miss their unique personalities. My BG and GW got along well - too well at times! Ultimately the former became less interested in human contact while the latter remained much the same. Like Mark, I think the world of GWs.

...Here's our temporary aviary. I decided to make a temporary one to see how things go before I start buying material for a larger aviary. There's a guy that lives 3 hours from me that builds aviaries. He's building us a large one this summer. Will likely cover most of the backyard area. I can move the tent or whatever for whatever she needs. Normally I Leave a part of the cage "open" so she can get sunshine, play in the rainn, etc. It's 8ft by 6ft I believe

Nice, Stephen! I love the addition of the tent since she's out there while you're at work. Direct sun can be brutal if there's no shade available.

And I love the idea for an aviary that takes up a significant portion of the yard! What materials are we talking?

The new indoor cage is rather impressive as well. Would the prospective new GW be sharing that cage with Kyleigh, or is she already sharing that one?

Well, folks...I just put my deposit down on a baby green wing. A local breeder had 4 hatch on Wednesday. We are taking home the girl. I'll make a second post for name ideas haha. So excited!

Congratulations Stephen (and your wife) :D!!

Thanks so much! So, I am attending a parrot training conference April 30-May 1st. The plan is to let the breeder feed until then, and then bring home baby after that. I've got time to prepare haha. We are excited!

Congrats on your decision and GW baby, Stephen. :)

How old will the young 'Miss' be when you bring her home?

Congratulations, Stephen! I'm looking forward to seeing pics of this new addition to your family.

How old will the young 'Miss' be when you bring her home?

If the baby was hatched last Wednesday, she should be just over 2 weeks at that point, Wendy.

Stephen, I assume then that your breeder friend has shown you how to hand-feed a baby macaw?

And would anyone be home to provide feedings during the day while you're at work, since the summer vacation will not yet have begun?
