WWell im in luck . These guys are really loving the attention [from my family]. Its nice knowing now after all these birds how to win them over. Henpecked had said once 'Play hard to get" Im not really [but it does work].I go about my business and am super sweet to them [now their waiting for me ] .I thought I had some pretty good talkers in my bunch . But these guys blow them away !!! Tonight Rocky was yelling "Brian go take a shower" theirs no Brian here :) LOL. I agree their cage does suck [It is wide enough for them [but that's about it] . But I will get a new one. By all means don't feel bad for me that I had to get more birds [I know Im crazy ] I feel like I died and woke up In Bird Heaven :). I Like my place better now than my favorite bird store.

I'am sure they are in best hands and will do very well in your care . congrads they look really sweet

I am glad you got the birds. It took guts for you to go over by yourself. When I got my green cheek conure off of craigslist I had my mom go with me. I would think in the back of my mind he wanted drug money after he said "it is not like I need drug money" so many times. I try to stay off craigslist because I might end up going to get another bird!

In my area most of the ads for birds are fake and some person is trying to get you to send shipping money and will give you the birds for free yah ok.
I had checked on 4 different ads for Macaws in Seattle area before finding one that actually turned out to be real.
I am not a friend of Craigslist for that reason but I did find my girl on it.

They are so happy to be there with you! They are just beautiful! Congrats to all 3 of you!

Poor things, thank goodness they have a new safe and happy home :)

I'm amazed how so many of you have multiple-bird households. How do you do it? One / two is more than enough for me to take care of. I find myself counting the birds you all have 6,7, 10....! How so you house them all? Feed them all? Clean up after them all... LOL I have a hard enough time cleaning up after Rio, my daughter cleans up after Kiwi. It's hard enough keeping my lil place clean with just us, 2 birds and 1 small dog.

LOL! I've always wondered the same thing!! We have 3 large dogs, 1 cat, 2 birds (and chili is VERY messy!), and a toddler. But hey- what's one more mess-maker in the mix?? Lol

1. I have huge playstands, and my birds self entertain well.

2. I have a bird room, so the mess stays more or less contained.

3. On some levels, the mess remains the same no matter how many birds you have. You still have to sweep and mop, and clean bird poop every day, it's just that in a multiple bird household, there is MORE to clean up, and a few more cages to clean. (Thank god for steam cleaners, shop vacs, and pressure washers... ) The mess is the same, there's just more of it.

4. The messiest birds I ever had, believe it or not, were a pair of conures... the two of them made as much mess as the other 9 birds in my flock at the time combined. Including my Big Macs!

5. I volunteered at a rescue that had about 350 birds at any given time. I got extremely fast and efficient at cleaning cages, sweeping, and feeding by sheer repetition... compared to that my (11 at the time) 5 (right now) is absolutely NOTHING!

As for feeding, I buy in bulk. I have a food storage cabinet in my bird room, and every morning I have an assembly line going. Takes about half an hour to feed, change water, scratch heads, and sweep. It's just part of my daily routine. At night, they get fed while I am finishing cooking dinner. It's called multi-tasking...

If and when possible, housing multiple birds in one cage (currently have 4 cages in use, although I could tighten it down to two cages - one double flight cage divided and one extra cage), having both tame and untame birds (7 birds, only 3 tame/friendly/demanding attention), buying in bulk, having an extra set of dishes (one set clean, one in use).

Used to have cage-free birds in a nice sized bedroom (12 x 14? not counting closet area, I think...) and it was easier to sweep up and mop the room than individually clean cages! I now have two birds that are not compatible with my other birds, let alone each other... so I can't allow my birds to be cage-free. These two will bite/nip through the cages bars! I wouldn't trust them to get along with the other birds without the bars!

Yeah. In really large flocks they really need to have a bird buddy...

While I have a lot of animals (18, with the 19th coming soon), I couldn't imagine housing as many birds as some of you have. Pink Lady, how many cages do you have??

My kids take care of the smaller animals, and I oversee the care of the birds and dogs. We have: 4 guinea pigs, 2 rabbits, 2 chinchillas, 2 outdoor cats that adopted us :), 4 German Shepherds and 4, going on 5 birds. My dining room has become the aviary, and we eat our meals in our great room.

I would love to see images of your bird rooms for those of you that have a lot. Do share!

Birdmans got the right idea [you just jump on it !!!] How do you do 14 birds !!! I get up at 4:30 [But when I say I love my birds ,I really love them :)] The night before I chop up what I need for the next day . In the morning the first 3 come out while Im cleaning water bowls and filling dishes . I kinda race around carrying bowls like a waitress. Then the next 8 come out while I eat breakfast with my sunconure [we share yogurt and nuts ;)] I get ready .The last 3 come out [the caiques wont get up until its light out] before I go to work. I get out at 3 everybody gets a snack and fresh water [lots of talking now ]step up ,hi, Hello , hey there ,come see Harlow . they are let out on playstands or on top of their cages[except the lorry ] he has to come out by himself ,he will fly and attack everyone.I check cages ,change paper ,sweep and vacuum everyday . big clean on sundays . Always checking toys and rope frays. I have a lot of people save their newspaper for me.A farmstand gives me stuff that is too small to sell.A friend just let me pick her whole apple and pear tree .I make chopmix and freeze it .They go to the vets once a year . I do 3 trips in 1 week .I have a backup account for vet emergancys. They get groomed 3 times a year .Theirs 3vets that I can use. My Macaw and Grey eats dinner with us everynight. Harlow goes to my kids soccer games.I handle them and love them to death.Their well behaved [except Pearl ,my goffin ] theirs always one right :).That's How I can have so many [and they interact with my family ] I know Im the highlite of their day, and they live in a cage . I want whats best for them .They all have their own cage except the 2 Macaws. Now you guys tell me what you do with yours.

I was thinking exact the same thing since I joint this forum. Also I was wondering if any of you people who have few birds go to work at all.... LOL. I feel so guilty leaving my 2 birds in the house for 10 hours every day.

Thank you for writing about your arrangements guys, I think I feel a bit better about my situation, I can see that some of you do go to work.....phew.....LOL
