I thought I would start this threads to track the journey of my newest flock member.

There is another thread about RTB2s and if you have read this you will see how I came to the decision to buy this little he/she J

If it is a boy I’m gonna go with the breeder given name of Nero and if it’s a girl I’m gonna call her pepper.

In the last pic she is 47 days old and 496 grams, all going to plan I will be getting her in jan/feb once she is fully weanedJ

I hope you guys enjoy this thread and join in the excitement with me as I am bursting at the seams lol ;);)

Wow, I would be excited too! What a gorgeous baby!
I am seriously drooling here and look forward to all your updates!

What an adorable baby! Look at that expression in the last pic, precious. I sense the excitement :D

In Australia, how often do you see a RTB too as a pet? They're virtually unheard of in US, and if you find one the price is out of this world. Just wondering in their native land if they're hard to get, or just uncommon.

What a cute baby! I have never seen one in person, but at almost 500 grams and still a baby, how big (roughly) will she be?! Will she be indoors or live in an outdoor aviary (I've heard they are typically kept in aviaries)?

Hi Raven There are 5 sub species of RTB2s and I think some are more common than others.

This little chick is a Naso sub species which I think are endangered in the wild and I could only find 3 breeders in Australia and only one that hand raises ( I sure there are more breeders but I couldn’t locate them ..)

I had to put a deposit down on an egg to secure a bird and it takes 5 to 6 months to wean so I guess I have found it a bit hard to get one but it will all be worth it in the end J

Hi Kiwi she should weigh 650+ grams as an adult and about 650-700mm long J
She will sleep/train/hangout inside but will have a day aviary outside which will be 3m wide 2m high and about 4.5-5m long im just starting to build it know.
Some good friends of the family run a rescue centre and they have 3 RTB2 all different species there and they are around the same size as a macaw maybe a little bit more soildJ

Hi all we went to meet pepper on the weekend and she perfect a very gentle well rounded bird in great condition the breeder has done an excellent job.

A couple of points that impressed me where

1. She has been hand raised in a room with 2x b@G, an Alex, a love bird and another little bird unsure what it was so she is very well socialised.
2. We meet her parents who were just as gentle and tame as she is and they had a baby in the aviary.
3. The breeder has given us the egg she hatched out of, DNA cert, pure breed species cert and a file documenting every day of her life weight food ml comments etc.
4. And to top it off at 108 days of age she is eating a varied diet of pellets ,soaked seeds fruit and veg and 20ml of formula twice a day JJJ

So if her weaning goes to plan we will pick her up on the 12th of January J I’m so excited

I have lots of pics and a couple of short vids but I’m running out of room on my account so here’s a couple and Il post more with a link later.:)

Thanx Charlie
