New senegal parrot_named charlie_3 years old_parakeet-named Birdie-
Parakeet named-meowy-my son
Named him - not me-
12 week old green. Cheeck conure named Lucifer
That belongs to my son
I lost my Senegal parrot- 17 years ago because she flew off.
I was tying the dog out and I didn't know she was on me,
And she flew straight up-i never saw her again
I only had her 2 years-since she was a baby-,
I felt so terrible-i Said i would never have
Another bird again . I loved her so much-
I was very attached to her. I had wanted a bird like
Her since i was 10/years old
Recently, my teenage son wanted a parakeet
So I bought him one for a Christmas present-
That little bird made me happier-my whole family
Happier-then today we bought him a parakeet friend.
I started thinking of Samantha and how much cheer
And happiness she brought me-always making me laugh.

I decided to buy another Senegal-
Which I said I would never do-
But looking at them parakeets-
Has made me miss her all-over again-

So I'm buying another Senegal-
I miss you Samantha:27::27:

I lost my senegal years ago..flew off my sholder...sucks...sorry for your loss..sorry for your pain...i blame myself all the time..but ive learned from it....and sissy never goes outside without a harness.

I too know that particular pain, + 30 yrs ago my spectacled amazon flew off my shoulder - which is why Salty is NOT flighted. I still feel the pain of Schyler taking fright and flying off. He was a great parrot companion.

Thanks -and I started crying over her today-
Those parakeets really trigger her memory-
And it was in winter when she flew off-
I am going to be more protective of my birds-
And the parakeets-these are the first birds
I've had since I lost Samantha-

When a bird escapes it is often because the owner takes the bird outside, thinking the bird won’t fly away because it is clipped/doesn’t know how to fly/never flown before/too attached to leave. Owners need to realize that you should NEVER take a bird outside without a harness, because something will spook them and the bird will take off. When a bird escapes because the owner assumed it wouldn’t, this is not a reason to punish the bird and clip its wings. It is a reason to take proper precautions when taking birds outside such as using a harness and knowing where your bird is at all times.

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT... THE COURAGE TO OPEN YOUR HEART AND LOVE AGAIN!!!!!!
There's a very lucky little Senegal in your future!!!!!!!!!!
