Me and Hank have known each other for about 5 years. When I first worked at this pet store we used to baby sit Hank quite a bit. He was known as Hank the Bald Bird. He plucked horribly. Long story short I left for awhile after I was put in charge of the birds, I came back and the owners had rehomed Hank. The 'rescuers' called me at the store when I came back and said Hank was 'too loud'. They surrendered him to me and here's the progress about 6 months....

Notice the feathers and beak...

6 mo. later with proper diet and attention...

He's stopped plucking, however I'm sure that some of the follicles are damaged...
Either way, he's happy and eating good!

Omigosh! What a handsome BEAUT!
I cannot express enough how thankful I am for people like you, SB, Me, and other members on this forum that rescue parrots!
keep up the good work :)

Great pics that illustrate power of knowledgeable intervention with "problem " bird

Rescue is totally the way to go. I knew that I wanted several birds, however they can be quite expensive when you buy baby handfeds. I have only bought one baby handfed, and that's my cockatiel. My CAG, TAG, Ekkie, and my budgie were all rescues and they are perfectly fine. My Greys were both about 5-6 years old when I got them and it was really cool getting to know who they are.
I know a lot of people want to 'start from scratch' with a bird, however I highly recomend rescue.

No need to thank me. It was my pleasure. Hank has the coolest personality and he looks good in his sweater!

Certainly is a need to thank people like yourself, it takes a lot of dedication to bring a bird back like that. :)

I agree about the sweater...all the rage this season :p

Hank is such a handsome fella, you have done a remarkable job, he is looking great.
You are sure being rewarded, just by seeing Hanks progress.
You deserve each other.
Keep up the great work, I
