Guess what???? Today I went to visit Bud as I often do on my days off. I want him to be comfortable with me when I finally bring him home in August. So it's been a little over a week and I haven't heard Bud make any sounds or talk. Today this little green guy surprised me and made many different sounds and also said "Hi." I was so surprised! I thought he didn't know how to talk. He is five years old and the people at the bird store told me they heard him sing once when he arrived there around two weeks ago, but couldn't make out the words. The lady who he was with for 5 years didn't take him out of his cage much. I also know this to be true because he doesn't understand the command "step up" and also he is a little unbalanced with his perching when he is on my arm or finger.
I am so exciting to work with him though. I will be doing the opposite of his previous owner by engaging with him often or as much as he will allow. Since he has not been taught to do many things and I plan to teach him many things, could this possibly change his demeanor???
