He came to me as a boy, but ended up being a girl.....I took her to the vet and did the DNA sexing.
She is almost 7 years old Yellow Shouldered Amazon.
Came to me with all the paper records, cage, toys and food.
She is a pure sweetness.
I know Yellow Shouldered Amazons are not common, but was wondering if anyone here on this forum has one.
She was about 390 grams when was checked by the Vet. I think it's a bit overweight for this type Amazons. These pictures are taken on her first night in my house. I think she is a bit slimmer now.....:)

Hi torrap and welcome to the forum. :)

GORGEOUS girl you've got there!!! :D And I see she's enjoying her fruits, too, which is said to be good for the figure. ;)

I've only ever seen Yellow Shouldered Amazons at a nearby bird store, and I must say that your girl is truly STUNNING!!

What's her name? Did you change her name with the gender switch? LOL

Welcome to the forum. Good looking bird. Glad to see she's eating fresh fruit. How long have you had her? I don't have any YSA but i've been around a few, good pet amazon. I almost bought 2 pairs of breeders from a fellow near me but passed them up. Although not common they aren't very high demand either. Loads of good threads here in the amazon section, read around and let us know if you have questions.

She's seven years old? Her plumage is sparkling and so soft looking, I would have thought she was even younger! Congrats getting such a cool bird. I've always wanted one myself. :)

Thank you all for your kind words.
She came to me as a boy with the name Marley. I guess I can keep her name as Marley, but not 100% sure yet.
I was planning to rename her as Donna, but my daughter is telling me to keep the name she came with....
What are you guys thinking?........ I'll take all the suggestions coming this way............
Thanks!!!

I wonder why.....
They are much smaller, quieter and friendlier than many other Amazon parrots.
I volunteer in the Exotic Bird Sanctuary, so although I don't have a lot of time spent with many different Amazons, I can tell many of them are not very friendly unless they fall in love with you. One DYHA is in love with me there, but is not very friendly with other people.
This one I have right now (let's call her Marley for now) on the other hand steps up to everyone who enters my house......:)

She's so beautiful!!!! I think you should keep the name marley :) I have a girl cousin named marley!

She is BEAUTIFUL! I like the name Marley for a girl, too, but you have to do what you feel. If she doesn't SAY her name, you have more latitude. George came to us saying "Hi George" and "George is a pretty bird" so we were pretty much stuck! Luckily, he really was a boy (when I had his DNA tested) so that all worked out.
