This is the cabin than I'm looking to buy if I'm able and the place is in good condition. I've yet to be inside it and hope that will change in a week or two. The outside looks kind of junky but if the current owners don't take all their decor, I'm going to tear it down and burn it as I prefer minimal surroundings.

I find it odd that it says this thing has a basement. It's pretty close to the lake edge so we'll see. What do you guys think?

It's cute! Love that it's right by the water. :) How much land does it have?

I didn't get much of a look before it said I had to d/l some video player. I'd rather not do that since those things have messed up my computer in the past.

The outside of my house was hideous when I bought it. It had siding on some walls, 4 different kinds, lol! And other walls were covered with old roofing shingles. If it is structurally sound though, everything else can be dealt with.

I would expect the basement floods. The only thing you can really do is make sure you have a working sump pump all the time. I have to buy one though like every 1.5 years due to the sulfur water wrecking everything.

it is very cute! Just remember any changes to it will effect your resale value, and you probably won't want to stay in a small place like that for more than a few years. :D especially if you want more birds!

It brought up that thing for me too Roxy. I closed the page and clicked again and it opened normally.

Thanks to RioMom, I got to look at it. It looks pretty cute, and not in need of too much remodeling. I guess that would be up to your taste. It does have a screened in porch that you could use as an aviary already.

With the size of it, I'm sure the heating/cooling costs will be nice. I see they didn't post the tax information. You should check that with the county. Sometimes vacation cabins have high property taxes, but I don't know if this one does or not.

I would ask for a complete inspection including well and septic if you make an offer. You can ask that that be at seller's expense. That way there are no surprises. I did have to replace my well last year finally as it was very old, but I got away with using it for 18 years.

I'm not sure yet if it comes with the land. It better for the price he's asking. If it does, I think it's about half an acre but I'd have to ask my dad. We have a cabin on the same lake just down the road and have had it for 15 years. The taxes are just under $1,000 a year but my dad doesn't own his land so I'm guessing I'd be paying around $1,500 a year in taxes. Utilities are pretty cheap out there and I'd definitely have someone check the septic and well. My dad can look at the rest. I wonder if the basement is a typo or something. There's no way they can have one and if they do, their property is on a slope with the cabin sitting on top of the hill. The lake has never gotten high enough to get halfway up their beach so they might get away with one. It just baffles me.

I might want to make the porch into another room like my dad did for our cabin. It could become another bedroom which would be nice :) It is a small place but it will just be me in there and the birds and the cats are indoor/outdoor so they're like half residents lol It might be a larger lot than where my dad is because of its location. I definitely want an aviary that attaches to the house so the birds can get some sun and fresh air in nice weather.

awww must be coz i'm in uk, it wanted me to sign in etc :(

but a lake side house ...... kinda property i can only dream off

sounds fab

Holy crap, that's cheap! Out here, even in this economy, houses are still in the several hundreds of thousands of dollars! I'd buy that in a heartbeat! It's adorable too!
