My morning routine

Gosh, I used to have a morning routine that was probably pretty much like most people's. Get up, breakfast, workout, coffee, go to work, etc.

Nowadays, my right arm becomes a preening station for Eliza and Henry. They quite happily chatter away. Meanwhile, I forlornly look at my coffee cup, knowing the contents are steadily getting colder, and that I'm utterly helpless to do anything about it...

Your post made me laugh. I've only had my baby quaker since Monday and I don't think I've had a hot first cup of tea all week. My morning routine has completely changed and is now totally dominated by my new feathered friend. :)

Lucky for me, I don't drink coffee! ;)

Your little guys are very cute perched on your arm!

I used to do the morning workout thing too.My 12 birds killed that. [but I have to say I enjoy them more ];)

Hey...wait a minute...that's an idea. Maybe I'll give up coffee...AUUUGH!!!! What am i SAYING?!?!?!
:D

Speaking of routines, I have a question. How stubborn are your Caiques with their schedule? Ours want to be in their cage, and on their rope orb at 10:00 pm. They get a little irritated with any interaction past that point.

What always strikes me is, it's like a switch. One minute we're all wrestling at my desk. The next, they're done.

I certainly agree Joel: they're definitely binary! It's 1 or it's 0...and that's it!

I don't think mine are necessarily stubborn (granted, I could be in total denial here!), but they definitely like a routine. It probably helps that I'm a creature of habit too. (Basically, just think of me as the polar opposite of Dos Equis' "Most Interesting Man in the World.")

They get their cuddle time in the evening unless I'm out for whatever reason. I'm pretty much up and around at the same time every morning, so they have that routine as well. I go to work during the week, but then I'm generally working in the garden on a Saturday or running errands--which the birds probably don't differentiate between: to them, I'm just not there.I don't know what would happen if I kept them up very late--they may end up being just like yours, and get slightly annoyed if I broke their routines, such as interacting with them after their accustomed bedtime.

I'm not sure I want to find out, either!

Again, that's a really interesting question. What are other folks' observations when it comes to their birds, and their schedule/routine?
