Hello Im a new proud owner of a 1 year old lovebird. I absolutely love him to death! Im still learning how to train him, so if anyone has any tips they can give me, let it rip!

Aww! Mitch is such a cutie! My tip based on my limited experience... positive reinforcement for absolutely everything he does that you like. Whether it's, a simple "good bird", a treat, or pick up one of the inexpensive dog clickers and click at the exact moment when he shows/does the behavior you like, and saying "good bird", and then treat afterwards.

Again, I am not an experienced owner, this is what I have read and tried, and it works for me.

A book you may want to look into from Amazon (I alway buy used if available because I am an information border and it gets expensive).. Clicker Training for Birds. There are so many more books on Amazon I bought but that is a good start on your question (if you choose to go that route). Now, there is a wealth of info on training birds on the net for free... one place is right here. :)

I am sure more experienced bird owners will chime in, but that's my .02 cents.

Congratulations on bringing Mitch into your life!!

He is very cute and looks really content on your shoulder.
