I have a grey almost a year old. It was clipped when I bought it. But the problem is it doesn't fly. It was clipped again about six months ago for precaution. Obviously the wing feathers are not completely grown till now. She used to at least hop/ fly to me one from meter away. But now it's completely behaving like a penguin. Is this normal? Please advice..

It's not that she can't fly, she's just scared. Has she ever once fallen to the floor while clipped? If so she remembers and is afraid of it happening again, if you want her to fly to you, even a short distance, you shouldn't be clipping her. If you wish to have her clipped you are setting unrealistic expectations for her.

My galah cockatoo is fully flighted, but she used to be over clipped and it still affects her. She is afraid to take off for fear of falling. Months and months of flying and she still worries that her wings might one day fail her again.

Try to place yourself in your Greys place to better understand what she is going through :)

Thanks, think it's a wrong choice clipping her. Thanks again,,:)

When we got our new grey, he was fully flighted. Was quite interesting getting him out of his travel carrier. We have cathedral ceilings and he flew up to the chain of the hanging light for the kitchen. We had to clip him. We only did like a half clip. If he's up on top of his perch, he can fly about 10 ft before landing softly. He still tries to fly to me once in a while, if I'm leaving the room and I hear him flapping away, and there he is on the floor.

Mine can fly max about 7ft, but only from her play stand when feel like doing so...recalling is totally out of the question...to bad:(
