My grampy (the person who used to own my canary Charlie) has taken a turn for the worst. :( he is likely in his last days. We are with him now, and are only leaving when we have to (mostly to take care of the animals and work).

The amazing thing is... this morning I was cleaning the cages and Charlie hopped onto my hand and sat with me. It was the first sign of him starting to get over being cage bound since I've had him. When I Put him back is when I got the call. I can't help but feel like he was trying to let me know something was up.

Birds are truly amazing.

I'm so sorry for the hard time you are going through, but I'm thrilled to hear of Charlie's progress!

Birds...
They bring us together
Comfort us
Make us smile even when we don't want to

Your grampy's little ambassador will be a wonderful link to him...

Thank you everyone... we just got home. We were with him from 3:30 until now (12am) and he is still the same... we are going to go over tomorrow morning and then when I finish work tomorrow I will stop by again (I luckily work about a 10 minute walk from the hospital).

He's definitely trying hard to hold on <3

So sorry to hear of this. Reminds me of when I lost a member of my family this year, my birds knew something was up with me. They are very intuitive creatures. For me, my birds helped me tremendously with my loss.

I am sorry to hear your grampy is not doing well, Sarah. I hope he is comfortable, surrounded by those who love him best.

Do you think a visit with Charlie will bring comfort, if permitted by the facility?

Sarah, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather. My thoughts are with you and your family. Stay as strong as you can, it's a heartbreaking experience for a family to go through but also a precious time in your lives when bonds are sure to grow even stronger.

Hi everyone,
At 2:15am I got the call that he had passed away peacefully :( I'm so sad that we didn't stay longer than we did, but my parents and my Aunt were all there with him.

Thank you so much for your kind words through the last few days... it's been a rough week in my house... but I have the birdies who have been helping me so much to get through it. They never fail to make me smile and laugh.

Patagonian chirps and hugs to you and yours.
Yeah, the little guys realy do keep us going sometimes, don't they?
I'm so glad we were here to support you... you had the strength to do good deeds even while facing your family's loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss :(

My deepest condolences, Sarah. Nothing can ever replace a beloved grandparent, but you have beautiful memories and Charlie.

I am sorry for your loss. I hope Charlie will help to keep him with you in your memory, and that some day those will all be happy memories.
