My Gracie is dying

My beautiful 13 year old lab has kidney failure and the doc says this is her last weekend. I am so grateful for the time I had with her she welcomed Timeh into the house without question. Timneh calls her by name and tells her to come here complete with whistle and kiss'. I'm so sad hoping to make this a good last weeekend with her but the fluids and shot isn't helping her and she doesn't want to drink or eat. I couldn't let her go yesterday and I fear I may have made a selfish decision. But I love her so much, I needed more time to say good bye. Timneh snuggled with me yesterday before our vet appointment, instead of darting for the fridge for a treat she pushed her head under my chin and snuggled for awhile much needed love. Thanks for listening you guys are always so kind and helpful.

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. I hope comfort finds its way to you and wraps its arms around you.

This weekend is going to be one of those that none of us ever look forward too. Pull close together and savor these moments as it will comfort Gracie.

As the weekend progresses, know that we are here for you.

I'm so sorry to hear about Gracie. This is such a difficult and painful time that we all must inevitably face at some point. You weren't selfish.. just soak up the love right now. Timneh will be there to comfort you.

Very sorry Gracie is failing, but IMO you may have made the best possible decision. As long as she is not suffering, passing at home with you and Timneh is the least harrowing option. The ambiance at the vet may be professional but is terribly anonymous and sterile. Timneh will also have a chance to better understand the loss.

I will be thinking of you and Gracie this weekend.

My heart is with you and your family.

Thank you everyone for the support. Its really means a lot to have people that understand how much our animals mean to us.

I'm so sorry to hear about Gracie. My thoughts are with you and yours. Kidney failure is heartbreaking and of course it's unfair, but in my experience it's gentle and calm. They just slow down. There doesn't seem to be any pain. I wish you both peace x

Billdore...
You gave a beautiful animal soul a beautiful life and home. And you're seeing her out, in peace, love, and serenity.
No companion animal could want more.
I hope I can do the same for the Rbird someday.

I am so very sorry about Gracie...but glad you have this time with her. My heart goes out to you, and you are in my prayers, as is Gracie.

I'm so sorry to hear this heartbreaking news. I wholeheartedly agree with Scott that you made the best decision, the last kind thing you can do for your Gracie. My thoughts are with you and your girl.
