Rest in Peace Rio
Thought I should introduce my furkids
Draven T. Cat. He's about eleven years old. I adopted him when I was working at a veterinary hospital. A woman was trapping strays and brining them in to be spayed/neutered then released. Draven and another kitten were around 5 weeks old and two young yet to be neutered, but also friendly. They were put in a kennel in the back with a "who wants a cat" note to the employees. Draven came home with me.
He has diabetes and I give him insulin injections twice a day. Having gone to college to be a vet tech, and formally worked in hospitals, I still know how to draw blood. My vet is great in that she allows me to draw blood and test his glucose at home on a meter. I do this every couple weeks and call them to see if the insulin level needs changed. Saves me a lot of money, and Draven a lot of stress. (he hates car rides and vet trips). Also gives a more accurate reading because his glucose doesn't go up from the stress.
Polly (Pocket). Polly is about 3 years old, soon to be four. She belonged to my best friend Jenn. I still remember going with her to pick Polly up for her daughter Olivia who was three at the time. When Liv got home from preschool I said "what are you going to name her?" After brief thought, she exclaimed "Polly!" Jenn, (who must have been thinking Paulie Shore) said "Polly's not a girl name" and I said, yes it is, like Polly Pocket. Liv said in her sassy voice "yeah mom!! like Polly Pocket!".
Sadly, Jenn passed away a little over two years ago. She died from a blood clot, my husband and I found her, one of the worst moments of my life, that still haunts me. (Olivia was at her aunt's house at the time). Anyway, nobody in their family seemed interested in what happened to Polly. I said I would find her a home. Didn't take long for me to realize she WAS home. She's my little part of Jenn. (Olivia by the way was adopted by her aunt, and I keep in touch with her) This picture was taken last year, Polly loves snoozing under the tree. I think the gumpy face was for me disturbing her lol.
Jemima and Elsie. These two girls are both about eleven years old. I adopted them four years ago. My husband and I were doing kennel sitting for a woman who shows/breeds toy fox terriers. These two were "retiring" from their breeding/showing gig, and she offered to let us adopt them. Elsie in exchange for a weekend of kennel sitting (she paid the spay), and Jemima as long as we paid the spay. They are living out their "Golden years" happy with us. Jemima is a scaredy cat mommas dog. Elsie is pretty sure she could eat a doberman! Elsie absolutely loves to bury herself under blankets (usually burrito'd so much you can't see her!)

A rare photo of all of them together. Draven doesn't usually associate too much with "The Three Stooges". Right before this photo was taken, Draven was on my lap. Kinda crowded for the five of us!
