Ever since we got Nico last week, hatch date 3/12/12 he's been exhibiting baby bird-like behaviors. When he's on our shoulder, he puffs himself all up, buries himself closely to our neck and gives these little baby chirps while moving his wings. He'll even gently grasp onto our earlobe and shake it back and forth, like he's trying to get food. Do you think he was weaned too early, or was deprived in some way before we brought him home? Is this something he'll outgrow? It's absolutely adorable and endearing, but it also makes me wonder if there's an unmet need that we should be helping to fulfill?

I think this is simply because he's still getting to know you and he is still curios.

Give it time and I'm sure he'll grow out of it. :)

My conure Jasmine does this when she's contented/happy. She puffs up her feathers and makes a happy little noise - she will snuggle into my neck and preen my hair :)
