Pineapple conure, budgie
I have a little pineapple conure named Zazu. It is both my mom and I's bird. This morning, my mom was getting ready to go to work and myself school, and she had Zazu out. This is usually a regular occurrence in the mornings that we get Zazu out while we're getting ready.
Well, today, my mom had Zazu and I was sleeping in late. When I got up, I got ready not thinking much and my mom said she had the bird with her while brushing her teeth. Shortly after I got up, my mom realized Zazu wasn't on her anymore and assumed Zazu came to me. He) she hadn't. We looked everywhere and to no avail, our last guess being our dog ate Zazu.
-Our dog is a male Siberian Husky, almost 3 years old. He has ate birds before and my mom said he has ate them whole, but I'm not sure Zazu was small enough for that and there was no blood, squawking, or feathers. He has tried to get Zazu before, but like I said, Zazu is big enough he would have had to chew I would think.
-Zazu is pretty quiet and if he is somewhere, I don't know how I would tell. I feel like I and my mom have looked everywhere around the house.
-no windows or doors were open at all and both my mom and I were in the house
Just looking for some suggestions, I've been sobbing off and on and I dont want to huge up. Was hoping someone might have some answers or be able to help! I just want to get my Zazu back.

How sad. Try looking in every tiny little hiding spot you can find. Parrots will seek those out when its mating season. Otherwise you need to face the horrible truth. Parrots and dogs/cats are always a chance. Given husky past behavior, not sounding too good.

If the dog had ate him there will be evidence blood feathers ect check the dogs mouth for signs of this or better still get a adult to do it.

Thank you for your suggestions! Thank goodness I found him, he happened to be in the pantry (not sure how he ended up in there). So unbelievably relieved and definitely going to make sure my mom is more mindful about him.

Good glad you found him. Might be a good idea to train the dog to leave the birds alone. Mine know the birds are off limits even the daughters cats know not to pester them.

Agreed, my mom is very adement that just yelling at him does the trick and it doesn't. Been trying different techniques myself though! Thank you for your response :)

One of my budgies went missing a few days ago and after crawling around on the floor and looking everywhere for an hour I found him.
Safe and sound.

Don't take chances again. You're lucky this time. Personally, I would never home a bird to anyone with a dog or a cat.

Absolutely, I plan to inform my mom about more safe of handling. I wouldn't blame not homing a bird to a house with a dog or cat! Too many variable and you never know. Definitely going to take serious precautions.
