Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
...Well the movers have come and gone. Only thing left is some clothes,my computer and the fids. Amy is wide eyed, wondering where the heck is everything, why is there no music, what has happened to my perches and toys  BB doesn't seemed bothered,he is on my shoulder whistling is heart out. Amy is sitting on a cabinet that isn't going anywhere and her arms are fluttering a little. Nerves? Anxious??
The kids are out of their houses so I can take them outside and power wash them before moving them to Davids place. I'm stressing big time hoping the move doesn't traumatize them
Sighhhhh

Home is where you are! You are almost to the finish line!! Maybe a nice glass of wine this evening as you settle in, or some relaxing beverage of choice. Don't over extend yourself, just focus on what's most important.

He Jim, you are doing great.
Just moving is a challenge enough for everyone, and you have the fids to care about as well.

Remember to breathe plze ;)
They will follow the lead of their wonderfull (if slightly oversized and unfortunately wingless) flockmate.
They will have you, their little homes-away-from-the-old-home and a fun new place to explore in a few hours ...

Hang in there big guy!
You can do this.

They will be with you, and that’s what will matter the most. They may take a bit to settle - but they’ll take their lead from you. You’ve got this!

If you can get excited about the move maybe they will catch some of that excitement at a different location.

Well we are ( my brother and I) are 98% done. Only things left are some clothes and my computer, some stuff to throw in the dumpster.I am mentally and physically exhausted! The kids are settled in at David's with sparkling houses that are all set up now. It didn't seem to bother either of them. Of course Amy was all chatty in her carrier in the car as she hung upside down from the door bars  BB wasn't too pleased to be put in the carrier as he paced back and forth but he did manage to whistle and jabber on.

As you may recall,Amy just wants to be with BB. I have made numerous posts on how as soon as I turn my back, she scurrys down to the floor and runs those little legs of hers so fast that three minutes later I find her on top of his cage and it really p.m.o.

Now due to the situation, her house and Beebs are right next to each other and I have seen her on her floor as close as she can get to Beebs and her head bobs and rudder flared out and if I get close she lunges at the bars..this is unexceptable!

So I have covered that side of her house with a towel and she can no longer see the little boy...it seems to be working :)

David bought both of them house covers called "Cozy Covers"..very nicely made, breathable and washable fabric. He said they got a five star rating. Does anyone use them or heard of them? Thoughts please?

Jim

I have Cozy covers for my cages - love them. My cages are so tall that I have trouble putting them back on if I take them all the way off.....so I just flip them back, roll them up toward the back of the cage and leave them draped at the back covering the back of the cage like a curtain so I can just roll them forward at night (has the added bonus that it protects my wall from food flinging during the day). They wash well - I don’t put mine through the dryer as I don’t know if they would shrink.

Moving house stinks even at the best of times! YUCK!!

Hopefully everyone will get a good night’s sleep and is recharged & ready to rock’n’roll again tomorrow:)

Moving is always rough physically and oftentimes mentally as well. I hope this morning you feel more rested and less stressed about the big changes and that the birdies settle in well over the next few days. It sounds like both will do just fine.

Glad the hard parts are done, Jim. You are definitely the "alpha dog" for blazing a new trail of happiness for Amy and BB. I think they will settle in very nicely!

I'll be out of here tomorrow. Only things left are some clothes and the computer. I stayed here last night and tonight to give the kids time to get accustomed to David with me not around. They both are doing pretty well..David thinks BB is noisy lol..I said what about Jonesy? He said Oh heck no! Not that bad!! So we went to dinner and I went over to see the fids and BB got all excited. We watch "Rio" on Netflix...a great movie. Amy came out and sat with me and just let me give him lovies and skritches. David made the BIG mistake of letting BB out last night! He came out alright but WOULD NOT listen to David! Would land on his back just out of reach then take off! David said he even GROWLED at him and tried to bite him! David got him in the bathroom and was able to cup his hands around BB and put him back in his house. Sometime next week I;m taking Beebs to his doc for a grooming AND to shorten his sleeves. We cant have him flying around in a place he doesn't know.

Davids 16 yr old cat finally came out of hiding and David said her eyes were as big as saucers when she saw BB with a "what the heck is THAT?" type of look on her face..then turned away and got on the couch for her nightly lovies with Daddy. I don't forsee any problems with cat/birds but I WILL keep a VERY close eye on them!

This sucks. There is nothing here. No fids ( I keep expecting to hear Beebs as I come thru the door) No tv or stereo not even I microwave lol just this thing. Probably be here until 10 or 11 am EST then be outta here. Thank you my friends for your support..you all are an awesome bunch of people!

Jim

I'm glad things are going as well as they could go for ya, moving does suck...I always look around going "Where did all of the crap come from? Is it all mine?"

Hopefully the 16 year-old cat is too arthritic to be much of a problem for the fids...I'm sorry I just said that, lol...I didn't mean it THAT way :) They do live forever, don't they...I'm sure they'll all adjust, the cat will probably be more scared of them than anything else, especially once he sees Amy!

Take it easy, settle-in, and relax a little today.
