The thing is, I can take him outside run around with him throw toys around. He'll come inside panting up a storm, drink water he'll pretty much lie down and get ready to nap. But once I get the leash out he's got all his energy back. I don't think it helps that he's a Lab/Retriever mix either. :I

But I mainly want a personal dog, one I can keep in my room and I can cuddle. Also won't hog my whole bed (When I get sneaky and let the dogs come upstairs the GD jumps on the bed)

Even if they're family dogs, *someone* needs to get them under control.

What do your parents think of you having your own dog? And why would you sell nips, gaby, and Dino?? IMHO if you feel the need to trade around pets to get another, then you need to **seriously** put some thought into it. Totally not fair for your fids to get the boot unless you find yourself physically or financially unable to provide and care for them.

I absolutely adore Nips, but that will be the LAST thing I will do.
My mom told me I have to get straight As for the dog, and all the vet bills/food/toys/etc.
But my Spanish professor is out to get me. She has told me none of the emails I've sent her have gone through. So tonight I have printed out all of my assignments and emails showing I've sent them. I want all my papers graded.
I've managed to pay off Nips' vet bill, and pay off my bill to Billmelater very quickly. I've saved up, I'm saving up for this dog.

i personally dont think its the best idea.

not trying to be rude, i mean well here, but few things i'd like to point out....

1. if you struggled to pay for a vet for Nips for how long, it'd be extremely difficult for you to to pay for vet visits... which you will have some expensive ones with vaccinations and spay/neuter as well... if you struggled before, adding a more expensive pet is unwise. i'd work on getting ahead where you can comfortably pay for all the others and then some before thinking about a dog.

2. if the birds screaming in the morning doesnt motivate you to get out of the bed, then i'm not fully sure if a dog will. especially with the temptation to cuddle in bed with said dog... you wouldn't be getting up easily :p

3. if you have to even bring up selling your current fids for a new one, then that's not fair to anyone.

just my two-cents. i dont think it's wise to add a dog.

I want to point out you had a tuff time affording to take Nips to the vet. How can you afford mandatory vaccinations, tags, etc for a dog? And the bigger the dog is the bigger the cost. Perhaps you should focus on going to a doctor and on Nips before getting a dog. My dog weighs around 15 pounds and has no problem jumping where he wants to go but that may change when he gets older. I can not see bending down to life a dog to be helpful for your back. I get that you do not want to be pulled around by a dog and if your back pain will always be with you perhaps a medium laid back dog (a American Eskimo dog or Golden retriever for example) would be best for you. I like bigger dogs and was not thrilled with Pepe's small size. But he quickly grew on me because he was laid back, He easily goes on walks, easily burns energy while playing catch and tug aware with dog toys. I now like dogs in general and have no problem with small dogs. I will try to get a bigger dog as a second dog (but I now know the personality I want in a dog). My mom had a Central Asian Shepherd whom she rehomed to some people with a German Shepherd. He is a nice dog but he is too big for me and can easily drag me around. I know for me personally a easy going dog the size of Pepe or medium size would be the best fir for me (but that is me personally).
