I shared some pictures with you of black cockatoos in this thread http://www.parrotforums.com/cockatoos/5661-yellow-tail-black-cockatoos.html. Now I would like to share some more pictures with you of other parrots that are around the place. You are all parrot lovers and I think these birds are too special not to share with you. I just love taking photos and birds are one of my favourite things to photograph. I have thousands, so I may as well put them to use;)

This lot of photos was taken along the Murray River...enjoy!

P.S: Did you actually name the 'toos!? LoL!!!!

Thanks for the galah Ben, and I'm not possitive but that may be a Green Rosella instead of a Crimson Rosella, whatever it is, it is beautiful.....keep em comin' :D

Thanks Bobby. I'm pretty sure its not a Green. It's a long way from home if it is, they are only found in Tasmania :D

Pale headed or yellow rosella? Definately not crimson, but I will have to check my book.

Yea well i thought the crimson was only the red and blue one, but apparently there are 3 types of crimson flaveolus (yellow/blue), adelaide (orange/blue) and elegans (the regular red/blue). Still I'm no real expert. I knew the adelaide and flaveolus existed, just didn't realise they fell under the same heading of 'crimson'.

WOW!!! What an interesting place to live! I would love the wildlife!!!

My daughter is planning a trip to Australia next year. Which season is best to visit?

lol never planned an overseas trip to Oz, so never really thought about it. I guess I would aim between mid spring and mid Autumn (Oct-April - Pretty big gap I know), although summer can be REAL hot if you don't like heat ;) (but then again so can winter here). Spose it also depends on what part of the country she is visiting. It sometimes gets cold and wet in the south where I am for winter. A lot of the touristy stuff is on the East/North East Coast, which apart from your odd hurricane and rain cloud has much nicer and more consistent weather throughout the year, well at least I think so after visiting there a gazillion times :). The Northeast Coast is much more Humid, but of course has wonderful rainforests which are filled with birds. Giving an accurate answer is hard as the country is so freekin huge and all parts have different climates lol

So got off my bum and did some reading (Usually helps LOL). So looks like (going by colouring) it is a type of Crimson Rosella - flaveolus, a.k.a Yellow Rosella or Murray Rosella (according to Mark Shepard - Aviculture 1994). I was sure it wasn't a Pale as they are only found in the north east, looong way away hehe. Anyway, what do your books say Ratzy? My head is hurting a little :D

If she likes birds like you obviously do, make sure she pays a visit to Australia Zoo (awesome free flight bird show) and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (more lorikeets than you could poke a stick at;)) Both on the East Coast. If I won the lotto, I would pack up, buy a 4 wheel drive, start at one point and spiral my way around Australia towards the center seeing every single piece of it. Then I would go and do the same to every other part of the world ;)

Thanks for sharing Ben!

I've always been a bird watcher and really appreciate photos of them wild and free. I have hundreds of bird photos, but it is mostly eagles - and this is parrots only I suppose.

no, no, no not just parrots ;), I have a few eagle photos I am thinking of uploading. Feel free to share :) If I could, I would change the title to 'More Wildlife'.

Yipee - that will be so cool! Maybe we can start a new thread with that name.

Then we can all load our wild birdies and give a bit of details about them. .... and then we all can get cleverer.
