Roxy-Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conure, Zeus-Turquoise conure, Carlos- YN Amazon & Jazz- GW macaw
Here are some pictures I took with my camera phone of our macaws and other birds at our bird store. It was awesome just seeing all of their personalities stand out (pun intended :p) All of these parrots are owned except for the Amazon, Cockatoo, and Hyacinth Macaw

.......for those who read my stories about my experiences about volunteering here a while back: That Hyacinth is Azul and our relationship has not gotten any better :p But me and the greenwing in these pics are great friends now :D When I come into the store he climbs right down to me pretty fast and won't leave my arm. I have even been able to pet his back and under his wings which my own conure doesn't like :11:

Staff at the store were wondering what would you get when u combine a scarlett and a cockatoo :p (of course we're not actually gonna try but it was a huge surprise how they bonded on the stand)

Great pics!! Thanks for sharing :)

Man if I let all mine out in the same room it'd be a "free for all" in no time flat

lo thats funny. where is this store at.

It's in Grand Rapids, MI. Called "Casa la Parrot" Currently they have a TON of babies too and they all need good homes!

well, iffin y'all run outta room for that Hy.......I THINK I can make room for one more cage :D

Oh, them GW's are a walk in the park :)

All I need now is a Scarlet and I may be able to recreate that scene... well, then again maybe not because they'd likely be at each other. It'd take some work I'm sure.

Why don't you try sitting a chair close to the stand and play with the ones who will climb down to you He (the hy) might climb down just not to be left out of the scratches.

all i need is all of them but the scarlet... lol i will get more after i get a bigger house n my own house

Lovely birds. What keeps them from flying away?

They are all clipped except the Hy. And I guess he just doesn't like to fly? I did ask about it actually and I guess he is trained for shows and will fly when you command him to. The Hy was liking the scarlet until we put the cockatoo up their then the scarlet changed her mind :p

Also, there were 7 of us out with them during this photo shoot. A few of the staff work amazingly with these macaws and they are good at behavior training with them. For example, the blue&gold and the greenwing do not get along at all but with their owners and staff being right there, they were doing okay. And i blame that relationship between the 2 guys as to why the blue&gold picks on me, cause he doesn't like that the greenwing and me are buddies now :p (its opposite for my friend who owns the blue&gold, the greenwing does not like her at all)

I would try that, but Azul's relationship with me is honestly not that safe currently. If he is out on the stand and sees me nearby, he'll climb down onto the floor and chase after me with his feathers up on his head and neck (has happened at least 3 times) As humorous it is for everyone watching this, it ain't for me :p
He is really good and loving with a few people and I don't want to discourage anyone from getting him, but he needs an extremely trained macaw owner to work with him. He has a great personality and is very humorous. For example, Azul will take toys and rattle them against the bars of the cage as a "jail bird" :D And he has a cowbell he rings when he is upset :p

My Hy chases my Military across the floor with his feathers fluffed out just like that. My poor little Military screams and runs :31:

But then my GW wants to leap onto my Hy whenever he comes within a few feet, so my Hy is fairly afraid of him. And my B&G just isn't sure about any of them, with the exception that he loves my Military (they lived together for a very long time). But my Military doesn't like him (my B&G) anymore and will even attack him if he gets a chance. Go figure I guess. Macaw social dynamics :11:

BTW, did Azul used to live in South Carolina by chance?

@Plax, who is the biggest of yours between the Hy, GW & Mil.?

@Plax, who is the biggest of yours between the Hy, GW & Mil.?
Weight-wise, its as follows:

GW - 1490g
Hy - 1420g
B&G - 1150g
Mil - 950g

My Hy and my GW look about the same size in appearance. Even their heads and beaks look very close in size.

Guess it just goes to show that a species "average" size is just that. My scale needs to be replaced but I'm real curious what the GW's are weighing now.

Beautiful birds, every time I see a GW I get so upset that I wasn't able to get mine. Oh well one day

Such neat pix and information.

MAC, our B&G, comes in at about 1120 grams right now.

We thought about another bird but MAC has been an only child since we brought him home.

If there was a rescue that needed a home, I'm sure we would cave.
