Hey guys! i won't bore you with my bird experience C.V. that i feel the need to preface my questions on bird forums with, just trust me when i say i am an experienced parrot owner with many years under my belt. :)

I'm in the process of adding another parrot to my tidly flock of one (Merlin, a Sun Conure). Having grown up in multiple bird households this was always the end goal when starting up another feathered family, i'm a firm believer in the flock mentality and my birds having at least one other of their kind to interact with.
My Conure is just shy of 1 and i would ideally like to get a second bird while he is still young so as to avoid the "only bird syndrome" effect.
One of the parrots i am in heavy research mode over is the Galah or rose breasted cockatoo, thankfully being one of the more commonly kept of the small cockatoos there is a good bit of information on them out there especially on some of the Australian sites, i have however found it very difficult to track down any information on what Galahs are like with other birds. The few sites that do mention it say that unlike most cockatoos they are generally accepting of other birds but this was from websites that all had quite limited information in general, so i thought i'd ask you guys for your own personal experiences.
The main reason i ask is that i would want whichever bird i choose to at least be able to have supervised time out of it's cage with my Conure as he is pretty much out the entire time there is someone in the house be it me or my other half.
Finally just a few things to mention in case people were wondering...
The birds will not be housed together they will have separate cages.
I am aware that cockatoos produce a dust that may agitate my conure if not properly dealt with on a daily basis.

I want to get this right so in the end i have a happy well adjusted flock that i can trust with each other and eventually expand on :orange:

Ive had 2 Rb2s ,They are kind of bratty with the other birds . But not looking to fight like my white Toos . I would have them in cages side by side.Have one out at a time . they might become friends through the bars . Of course they will benefit from being near each other even if the don't become out of the cage friends . Just be careful because of the size difference, Im sure you know. My Sunconures best friend is a Greencheek conure and they do play on the playstand.

Tequila being friends through the bars with Owen.

aww thanks for the info and those beautiful pictures :)
i may have to pick your brain about life with galahs sometime, i'm still not 100% on what bird is the right one yet for us yet and i won't be rushing into anything. I'm glad of sites like this, you can get such a better understanding of life with parrots from the members here than you could from any of the bird profile sites out there.

Galahs mix well with other galahs, corellas, sulphur crested cockatoos, and red rumps. If it bonds with you it will protect you from intruders (other birds and sometimes people) so be careful. I don't think that its a good mix. I think that another conure would be a better option unless you have plenty of time and space to have out of cage time separately or in a large room.

Edward - thanks for the info, the other birds i had in mind was either a blue crowned conure for all the obvious reasons of being a good match for my sun and in truth even if it wasn't my next bird another conure would definitely be on the cards for a future member of the flock.
The only thing putting me off was the worry that they may over bond and make introducing future members difficult due to things like bullying and territoriality, on the plus side however if they did bond i would invest in a double cage with the divider taken out for them to share.
The last two parrots in the running were a mini macaw and a princess parakeet (all very different birds i am aware) i'd hate to have to separate my birds but i understand the danger in beak sizes. Thanks again for the advice i'll more than likely ask you guys a few more questions before i even narrow it down, i'll keep you updated =)

So far my galah doesn't care for the company of other birds~ it seems she's always annoyed with them [emoji51] She will stay in her area though, so I usually have her and my cockatiel out at the same time with no issues.

She hasn't met a bird of her size (or bigger) in person yet, but the "other bird in the mirror" is unwelcome in our bathrooms. Lol

Getwozzy - paha! yes my sun conure is very much the same, i have long hair and he enjoys nothing more than hanging upside down off my fringe posturing at himself in the mirror while i struggle to brush my teeth, i've often wondered how people manage to have mixed households with each bird knowing which areas are ok for him and which are big birdy out of bounds zones... That being said my conure has his favourite spots around the house.

Since a few of the members have advised me that the jealousy issues may interfere with socialisation and i have to admit i think it's something that i'm going to have to deal with whatever bird i choose at least from my sun conures point of view (he hates it when my chinchillas come out and he goes in the cage).

So a galah is most definitely not off the cards but i am still researching my other contenders, a blue crowned conure or a noble/ hanhns macaw.

thanks for the input, at least i know it might not be the worst idea i've had =)
