Misting new Eckies - one likes it the other doesn't

Another trick you might try is misting them with the vacuum cleaner going. Several of my birds immediately want to bathe when they hear the vacuum running. Go figure. One of my birds hated misting, but will now tolerate it if the vacuum is turned on.

to this day I do not understand this. Rio would fly to the bathroom and land in the bathtub every single time I put the hoover on, or if the door was shut he would land on it and shriek until I opened the door

Lol about the blue. they can be so particular! I was playing thunderstorm sounds to see if that helped. It didn't seem to have an effect :) I tried the vacuum when I first got them. They didn't seem to respond but they may be a little more settled in now. I'll turn it on when I mist them tomorrow to see what happens. I do feel like progress has been made, so that's good news!

The working theory with the vacuum is that it somehow reminds them of natural rain showers in the wild. (Instinctive, hard-wired memory, I reckon.) I know Terry (Terry57) uses this tactic to great effect with her flock.

Yes! Thank you for making my post about playing thunderstorm sounds ("Alexa, play rain") more understandable. I tried to cut out the vacuum middle man.
