I wanted to share this experience with everyone that cares to read. Today I took my African Gray Timneh to the bedroom where I put her on a perch in front of a mirror. She loves herself and actually regurgitated some of her food and fed herself in the mirror. How sweet! I will not do the mirror thing too much as they say it takes away from learning to talk. Dianne

I take my conure Dusty to the Mirror in the bathroom and he he's happy to sit there and talk to himself! Its quite cute!!!

That's hilarious! When I put Riley in front of a mirror, he talks to it. They are so funny.:green1:

When my tiel sees a mirror he will attack his image cause he thinks he is defending me. I likes me a lot xD

When Mishka was a few months old I placed a birdie mirror in her cage.
She attacked it, never went near it again.
I left it there for 2 days, thinking perhaps she would become curious.
She became quiet and withdrawn.
Never said a word.
Once the mirror was taken out, she started being herself again and started talking.
I avoid the mirror in the bathroom at all times.
Guess she wants to be the only bird around LoL
Bye for now
:green1:

Well, speaking for looking at myself in the mirror I don't much like it either. Lol

LoL SB Then I know Mishka takes after her guardian.
Anyway, we have better things to do than looking at a mirror.
Taking care of our beautiful birdies, loving and caring for them.
Bye for now

Thought I would share this...
Just put a mirror back into Dusty's cage. He was beyond excited! Immediately started to chat and right now he is curled (looks like he's goign to fall asleep) up next to the mirror chatting to his reflection.

So cool Dusty must think he has a twin.
Over the weekend I will placed the mirror back in Mishka's cage, she how she reacts.
Wish me luck !!!!
Cheers for now

My big birds don't have a problem with mirrors, but my small birds don't seem to be real thrilled with them. My lovebird goes totally nuts when I put one in his cage, to the point where I thought he would hurt himself. Now I don't have them in any of the cages. :green1:

My little Beemer had a small toy with a mirror in his cage for about a week. For the whole week he would try to kill it!lol It was funny to watch but he was definatly acting crazy with it in there. It had to go.

Quite interesting about the different reactions to seeing themselves in reflection. You know Mishka does not want you to get another parrot!!

Wishing luck to you. I also fashioned a few pieces of cloth to a few of his toys. He is having a field day.
