HAHA, they do make a mess don't they? I did the sides with acrylic and believe me, you will appreciate the difference. Don't box the thing in completely though you don't want to restrict air flow;) Just doing the sides like you say should be fine.

Here is mine, I just hooked them on:

sorry for the lengthy time replying i had to reset my password again lol .yeah i think i might change the design to the one like bens

Wow Ben, that looks great, did the cage come that way? was it an add on kit? or did you make that yourself?

those are fancy! What I did to help with the mess without restricting airflow was I got some stick on velcro dots and stuck only the hook side to areas of the cage. Then I took some wedding veil mesh and cut it to the appropriate size to fit around their cages. Basically it is like the mesh cage covers with the elastic, only fits way better and is much easier to get off.

Thanks, I just bought some acrylic and slapped it on lol. I wrote about the process here http://www.parrotforums.com/do-yourself/5501-cage-aviary-maintenance-tips.html

Thats a good method, I tried that one, but with thin plastic cover sheets (just 2 sides). However because of the size of my cage it kept falling off after a few days. Plastic was too heavy for the little Velcro dots :(

haha,. yeah I don't see them holding much weight. The mesh works really good for us, but I can see it being a chew hazard for curious birds as well. Rosie has put a couple little holes in the mesh, but eventually she grew bored of it. I've been using this method almost 2 years.

Thanks Ben, I'll check that out, just have to figure out how to do it without having any of it exposed anywhere, all three of the fids are big chew babies and zone in on the least little opening to get a beak on :09:....lol

Well thats a better record than my 7 days lol. I might try mesh on my tiels cage, she is the worst at throwing stuff around. Food ends up about 2 ft up the wall from where her food bowl is

LOL must be a pain having big chewers. Probably not best to let them chew on it. I'm not sure what additives the commercial acrylic has, probably some UV stabilisers as MP mentioned.

They are such horrible slobs aren't they? My tiels are why I did the mesh in the first place. I figured I'd do it to Rosie's cage while I was at it and it has worked well. I intend to do it to the other 2's cages when I find some material that will work on theirs.
