I’ll try to upload his learning video tomorrow. We’ve only practiced this for like an hour, total! [emoji32][emoji7]

Great work! Spin is a good starting place for advanced tricks. Try for multiple spins,as you count them off. I think you are going to find that the more he learns , the more eager he will be to learn even more. Parrots love to learn new stuff. And the training is a great way to cement the bond with your fid.

Thank you, all!

I will definitely try counting off the spins that sounds wonderful! :) Yesterday was his second full day home and I was impressed with him and everything he did. During a training session I held up his harness and held treats near the part that his head would go through. I had watched a video that noted that their bird was scared of the harness because he leaned really far for the treat and would only put the tip of his beak through the hole. Milo walked right up and stuffed his whole head through the head hole about 5x in a row! [emoji32]

I didn’t move the harness or try to put the harness on him at all, I just held it and let him put his head in and out as he wanted for the treats. 2x he kept his head in the head hole while he ate. [emoji15][emoji16] Brave boy!

We made it to four spins for a treat last night! I’m sure we could have gone for more, but I didn’t want it to go from fun to frustrated before he got the treat [emoji4][emoji32]

That is really great work with the harness!. I suggest you do that for 5-7 days, and theen see if you can drape the harness over his body while his head is in the loop. Adjust it to be loose fit and daily adjust a tiny bit more tighter, so the final fit is confortable over his wings. This not the same as fitting his wings into the loops - that comes later. This excercise gets him used to the weight and feel of the harness.
Develope specific verbal and hand signals for putting it on and taking it off, and be very consistent, so he does not get confused or get mixed messages.

Once you and he are very comfortable with you extending his wings and in general handling him al over his body, its time to try to put the wings thru the loops and tighten up the harness. Some parrots are very OK with this part, and others it takes awhile to graduate to this point.

It took Salty a whole year, of gradually increasing the steps above, to where he is OK to put it on. We still do the first excercise above almost every night during training sessions.

Thank you so much for such a detailed guide! I will screen shot this so I can follow it with Milo :)
