ElllenD always told me to avoid giving almost everything in water of a bird, especially medicines. I wanna ask if Apple Cider Vinegar and Milk thistle are exceptions to this rule and can be safely given in drinking water of a bird?
Also, Shine is on pro-biotics and her samples have been sent for retesting, the bubbles in droppings have also decreased in number, Should I start her on Apple Cider Vinegar in meantime as a measure against yeast?

Apple cider vinegar in the water is fine but not for the reason you think. As medication, no. But ACV can inhibit bacterial growth so if your bird likes to make soup and you’ll be gone for a very extended period of time (day, 24 hours) a little ACV in the water should keep it safe.

Milk thistle should be given with a syringe.

I totally agree with Chris, you shouldn't ever give any supplements in their drinking water, nor medications, nor vitamins/minerals...Milk Thistle is no different, it needs to be given directly into their mouths/beaks...But the ACV is different in that it is used as a Bacteriacidal when added to their water...The only issue you may or may not have is that some birds refuse to drink their water when ACV is added due to it's sour/tart taste, so if Shine stops drinking her water after you start adding it, then you'll have to give it by-mouth as well...But in-general, both of these supplements are beneficial overall. Just be sure not to add anything else to her drinking water besides the ACV, as it will contaminate the water, but even more important is that you have no idea how much your bird is actually getting when you dose it in their water. Birds don't drink much water throughout the day, so it's futile to put medications and health supplements like Milk Thistle in their water anyway, regardless of the fact that it contaminates the water, because she most-likely won't ingest enough to make any difference.

Thank you. I never gave her anything in water and will never be giving anything :) She'll continue to receive Milk thistle by syringe ....
