Melvin had a great day today. :) I brought him out to our apple and plum trees for a photo op, and he had a blast climbing around the branches and clucking at the leaves. Then a quick shower and a nap back in his cage.

Melvin is gorgeous, a really beautiful bird. I love seeing the close up detail of the ring. He almost blends in perfectly with the foliage :). Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. He's a sweetie. It was a lot of fun watching him climb and cluck.

I noticed that Melvin has full wings. Does he go outside often? Is he trained in recall? I hope that he never gets away from you ;).

WOW! Thanks for sharing these gorgeous photos! Melvin is a very handsome boy and that's an understatement. What a nice way to spend a day, Melvin looks so happy and content in his pics.

This is the first time he's been outside loose. All other times he's in his little travel cage and gets placed in various shady places around the yard. Unfortunately, the tumor in his abdomen seems to be so big that he can't fly anymore. He actually tried yesterday from his cage to the couch (a jump really) and almost didn't make that. It was the first time he tried in a couple of days and it seemed to cause him a lot of discomfort. He's been making do with climbing the curtains (which I'm sure he thinks we put up for his convenience and not at all for our own aesthetics), running along the back of couches or spreading his wings while perched on my finger. Between that and the fact it was an amazingly still day (not even a breeze), I figured we'd be safe.

OMG, Melvin is exquisite! It is wonderful you are letting him experience life to its fullest!

Your unconditional, deep love for Melvin shines through so loud and clear! :smile015: Thank you for sharing him with us!! He is indeed magnificent!!!

:smile015: :smile015: :smile015: He's beautiful! Green, male ringnecks are the best. :D

I think that is probably a correct analysis. Even if he did fly off, with his condition, he couldn't fly far enough to get lost. I am 100% with you. Why deny him this?!

Yep. I once had a budgie in a similar situation as Melvin. I was a preschool teacher and he'd come to work with me on my shoulder - we made the most of a crappy situation. <3

He is beautiful :) I Love the mature ringneck's form and colour. Such elegant birds :)
