So my flock has definitely changed a lot since the last time I was around. So now instead of focusing on what I lost, I would like to talk about what I've gained.
First meet Gus. He is our Congo African Grey. I got him when he was about 3 weeks old for my wife, who always wanted a CAG. I'll admit, greys are not my favorite species. My dad had one when I was growing up that hated me, and I never really grew to like them after that. However, Gus has won me over a bit. He is really good at getting into mischief and then saying "I love you" all sweet and innocent.
Then there is Bo. He is my baby. He is a Double Yellow Headed Amazon and I also have raised him since he was about 3 weeks old. He is spoiled rotten, and I'm not afraid to admit it. When I went to go pick my baby out of the clutch, I knew he was mine as soon as I saw he was missing both of the front toes on his right foot. I have a soft spot for the imperfectly perfect babies.
Which is also how I ended up with Twitch. He is my little Lineolated Parakeet. He is the only one that I didn't hand feed, but he was raised by a good friend of mine. He was born with a neurological disorder that makes it so he doesn't have use of one of his legs and gives him almost Tourette-like spasms, which is how he got his name. He is still a loveable little guy, and nothing slows him down any. He still gets around like nothing is wrong except for the fact that he can't fly.
That is my flock now, and I am looking forward to growing old with my boys for the rest of our lives.
