Well like I mentioned in another thread a family friend was rehoming her birds and this 12 week old Tiel was the last little guy in need of a home. Even though Skittles is new I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to own a Tiel again.
I was able to see his parents because they were the only two birds the woman planned the keep. They were beautiful, healthy, well cared for birds.
She was pretty positive that my little one is a male. She said there were three in the clutch and she was pretty positive they were all males. Rocky (or Roxy if he turns out to be a she) already wolf whistles and mimics. So fingers crossed that he is a HE. But it really doesent matter either way.
Yes he is getting a cage upgrade. But he and Skittles should be in new cages come Christmas. Until then lots of SEPERATE out of cage time and toys/interaction.
It was a bit of a scene this evening when I went to pick Rocky up. He is fully flighted and not used to being handled. So of course when it came time to move him to the carrier he had a thrilling flight through his previous owners living room. He had a couple close calls but seems to have come out of it unscathed. He is scheduled to go to the avian vet this week anyways, so if anything is amiss I will find out.
Needless to say he had a bit of a stressful start. I brought him home and put him in his cage in the quarantined part of the house. I then left him alone so that he could calm down because he was doing a lot of hissing ect.
I left him upstairs for three hours alone. Two hours of which he and Skittles spent squawking back and forth lol. It wasn't too loud since Rocky is upstairs and Skittles is downstairs. It was just cute!
Rocky is currently covered up in the upstairs hallway. I hope he rests well tonight.
