So I wasn't planning to get a cockatiel, but this little guy picked me and I knew he was meant to come home with me. He crawled right up my arm and made himself at home on my shoulder. We spent the next hour hanging out together and I knew I had found a new friend.
Say hello to Picasso.
I've never met such a sweet tiel before. I used to bird sit for a pair of cockatiels years ago that weren't at all tame. I remember I had to wear socks over my hands just to get to their food and water dishes without losing too much blood. Ha.
This little guy is completely fearless and loves to be with people. He sat on my shoulder the whole ride home without any issues. I'm amazed at how well he's adjusting to the change in environment. He settled in right away and wants to be with me constantly. He's a joy to have around.
His wings are clipped pretty severely, which I'm not too happy about. I'm hoping he'll take to flying pretty easily once his flight feathers have grown back in so he doesn't have to follow me around on foot. Poor little guy. I'll be taking him to see the vet next week just to make sure he's healthy.
