Meet Little Sméagol

aw he is so cute! and even though a few other people said it, in the states you can foster animals with the right permits. i would LOVE to foster a kangaroo/wallaby! they are two of my favorite animals! hahaha. good luck with the little guy!

Oy, Tab! Why didn't you have the other possum as well? LOLOLOL! I can just see you now with a possum joey hangin' off each ear. Heehee!

I *do* envy you your carer's licence. Might have to get me @**e into gear and do the course. :)

I agree with Copper, yours are adorable! My dog loves to hunt possums, sometimes she doesn't kill them so I march them down the street to a ladies house who does the same thing you do.

I'll never forget my husband and his friend caught one, left it in a cage in the horse trailer for me to take to her house, but they FORGOT, and a day later they told me! So I run up in a scramble and barge in on her dinner party with this poor possum. It was definitely the highlight of her dinner party :p

Do your possums have razor sharp teeth and hiss too? Do they play dead?

Our possums have razor sharp teeth AND CLAWS. They also hiss and groan and make the most unspeakable sounds when they're having - ah - marital relations (which they do frequently on your roof when you're trying to sleep). They will pee on you from a great height if you're not careful, but they don't play dead.

Sorry guys!!

Have been so busy the past few days! Last 2 have been spent in a doctors clinic getting blood tests and xrays.. yipeeeeeee

Trish, you dont have to do a test thing for it!!! You just have to join a club- arrow, fauna- and then you just have to go to a 'workshop' where you sit there and watch a powerpoint ;)

Wallabies are ALOT harder to care for, because possums, they just climb around, and you can put them in a big aviary and they play on trees... But wallabies, well they hop around, then you take them outside for walks, and they run and hop and you have to chase after them hahaha

HAHAHA MsPony.. Play dead like in ice age? ;) I should get 2 and call them Crash and Eddie hehe..

Smeagol hissed at me the first night, he didnt like me, didnt trust me, but since then he has not hissed at all :D He loves me.. He has little teeth, but not sharp ;)

Sméagol is so cute. I have to agree your possums are a lot cuter then the possums we have in America. American possums look like a prehistoric rat. You guys have all the cool animals (parrots, wallabies, sugar gliders, etc). Here is a video of a possum playing dead [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCW9CrqpD48"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCW9CrqpD48[/ame]

I just love reading about all your experiences with wildlife and how you take care of them. One day you are going to make a wonderful mother (to a human child) - LOL
