Meet Emma!

awwww whata sweetie

Thank you all for your sweet words. I've been MIA for a bit - we moved almost two weeks ago, this past month has been CRAZY!

Emma is still a doll, she truly is the best bird. Can do anything and everything to her, she just goes with the flow!

Unfortunately, the play stand we'd ordered from her isn't going to happen. After being told "next week" a few too many times, we learned last night the gentleman isn't making these for the time being. Frustrating, to say the least. I'm on the hunt for something else for her. She plays on the one we have for the smaller birds just fine, I'd just like something a bit larger for her!

And noblemacaw - of course. You just let me know when! :)

OMG! Such a baby...

Mine is now 16 years old, and is about as loving and docile a big mac as you will ever find. They really do stay that way if they get handled and played with...

Greenwings are one of my all time favorites - but there are very few big macs I haven't loved working with...

Thank you for updating us with Emma's adjustment. I really like how the breeder makes efforts to socialize all the babies to different situations and people. She has helped me learn more about the species I am interested in and helped me know if it will be a good fit. I never even considered an amazon before but am now looking forward to adding the Panama to our flock next year. I am still up in the air on gender and am tempted to be surprised. LOL.

We had talked at length with the possibility of the amazon being trained for therapy work. We all know my RFM would make a HORRIBLE therapy pet because he is too loud, big and naughty. Valentino is more appropriate for a performing parrot rather than a therapy pet. I enjoy the personality of the RFM but look forward to getting our baby Panama as well. I did let her know that if by the time I am ready and her older babies are still with her I would consider one of them as well. I am more interested in the best fit possible rather than having to get a "just weaned baby".

Meanwhile I am learning all I can about the Panama amazon and why they make amazying companions. I believe this species would make a wonderful therapy pet and companion.

First we need to replace Julio's cage with one more appropriate for his disability. The cage he is now will be a good size for the Pan so once I got the cage ready I can think about making payments on the Panama amazon. In this past weeks "birdy buddy" pics I saw a family posing with one of the baby Panama's so I am thinking she may only have one baby left this year.

Congrats! She is beautiful:)
