Meet Emma!

After fifteen long years, my dream of being a "macaw mom" finally came true!

Emma joined us a week ago yesterday, this past week has been filled with helping her to settle in and lots and lots of bonding. When you wait so long for something, you always kind of wonder if you'll be disappointed once everything comes together. I can honestly say that's not the case for me!

The only downside is she wasn't eating real well for a few days (I later realized she hated her bowls and once I figured THAT out, she started doing much better!) and gave me more gray hairs that I truly didn't need!

She's settled in very well, the reason we ended up picking Emma vs. the Harlequin macaw is due to her sweet nature and easy going ways. That hasn't changed a bit. She is very "go with the flow" and puts up with just about anything. She's always eager to step up, decides when she wants to go play on her "temporary" play stand (you should see the one we're buying her later this month! It's Macaw HEAVEN!) and is doing her best to say hello, hi and love you already.

I am hoping that in time, she may be able to use her personality and charming nature to help others, and that we may be able to get into doing things like nursing home visits, etc.

I don't have a ton of photos as she's usually glued to my chest and it's hard to take pictures that way, but here are a few of the ones I've snapped this past week!

We were playing on the floor and she literally climbed up my back to cuddle..

Congrats. Your baby is finally home. Every week I look at Birdy Buddies and see all the babies being held and loved on. Then she has the table with all the play gyms and toys so you can see the older babies playing. I always think it so cute when they have one of the large macaw baby on the table and the baby falls asleep right there in cute positions. Just huge AWWW factor for me.

I saw she still has the Panama's. I twinge inside very time I see them playing. To me they look rather large but I know the Pan is not a large amazon. They always look healthy and well fed. LOL. When I look back at the pictures now I wonder which GreenWing was yours. LOL.

I cannot wait to get my baby Pan. Once I have paid deposit on one are you still willing to go and love up my Panama for me?
