Me and Tiki <3

This is Tiki. She is a Yellow sided Green Cheek Conure. I got her (no idea if it's actually a girl but that's what I'm going with until I decide whether or not to DNA test)today.

She's about 11 and a half months old and I got her from a PetSmart (I know I know... I could have gotten a hand fed baby for half the price from a breeder). I had been wanting a GCC for ages and when I found out about this bird I just had to have her.

She was shipped to the PetSmart I bought her from May 5, 2009. Needless to say I expected a rough rocky start to our relationship. Boy was I wrong, within an hour and a half I had taught her to fly to me when I called. She lets me handle her with surprising ease and hardly any biting.

She's already stolen her way into my heart.

If anyone has any specific advice about this species of bird I would appreciate it! Thanks <3

Tiki is a darling !!!!!!
Sounds like Tiki is "home"
Great to hear how she is responding so quickly.
Her nibbling is quite normal, for a bird that young.
I have an AG Mishka, not familiar with GCC's.
Other members who are guardian's to GCC's will willingly assist you with advise etc.

Welcome ... I've also got a petsmart bird.

Couldn't help it, he came in to the store while I was working there and he chose me. I didn't even like birds at the time, but he ignored everyone else until I came by the cage then he ran right up to the front.

The Pet Smart where I live has a manager that really cares about the birds and is actually particular who he sells them to. On the other hand the store Petco is at the opposite end of this scale. The seem to have a few more birds though. I saw a lori there and was really amazed at how beautiful they are. Congrats. on your new bird. You have come to the right place for information.

I actually work at a PetSmart myself. Just not the one Tiki was at That's how I heard about her. I feel ridiculously in love with the GCC we had at work and I went to buy her on double discount day and she had sold to someone the night before.

I was totally devastated. After enough moping about it one of the people I work with mentioned that they had seen this bird at the other store and it had apparently been there a long long time.

It took me about 10 seconds after meeting her to decide I had to take her home I love her! She's currently cuddling up to me behind my ponytail on my neck lol... it's her new favorite spot!
