Nike a Hawk Head Parrot (Deroptyus accipitrinus)
Anyone ever seen/used one? I've been wanting one for a couple of years now but I've never even seen a picture of one in use.

MANGO STANDS

Thanks
Bill

I know someone who uses them, but personally, I don't care for them. They're small and boring. It's good at least that these have trays that can easily be cleaned, which also means easily chewed...

Thanks Monica. Small is what I need, I want to be able to move it around the house easily. Boring is OK because Nike is boring when she perches. I cant tell you how much time and money I've wasted trying to make her stands fun...only to have her just sit and perch ;) Oh, and Nike doesn't chew.

Having said that did they look well built? I found the Traveler online for $110 delivered.

Thanks
Bill

Easy to move and easy to knock over.

Just did a search to see if I had any pictures of the stands... these are what I came up with! LOL

Also have a picture of a hawk head... but not on one of these stands... I don't know that I have any other pictures of these stands either, at least not with the zons in them.

They may work out perfectly for what you need.

We have four (4), two with stands and two just the upper units. We use them to move food and water around to the different rooms we are in and also extensively for traveling. They are very easy to clean while traveling and since they are in two sections, it packs with easy in even a medium to small trunk.

We order direct from the manufacturer and as a result, we do not get the toy holder and we up-size the perch diameter, plus order extra cups.

When traveling, we take the upper into the motel room and set it on the table.

Each Parrot is different and it is important to understand what the needs of your parrot are and make selections based on that information.

FYI: We get the one with the double perch which we find provides greater access for our DYH Amazon. He commonly sits on the lower perch to eat and drink from the cups.

Thanks. They are kind of plain but I want one to be able to move to temporary locations...like in front of a screen door in nice weather or the picture window. Would be good to bring the top camping too.

I've been building/using similar stands out of PVC for years, they are what I use in each room of the house, moving them to whatever room I'm in for each of my 4 larger birds (the Budgies have an actual flight cage hanging in my kitchen/dining room area for them to be downstairs with me)...

I currently have about 5 or 6 of these things that I've built myself, with and without bowls, with and without toy hooks...I pretty much just use them so that they are with me wherever I'm at so that the constant calling me stops. Most of my guys are content to just sit if I'm in the kitchen cooking, or if I'm eating they'll eat on their "T-Stands"...I love them! Also great for trips/hotel rooms, or visits to someone's home. I have 2 of them that I built with 2 different diameters of PVC piping, so that they telescope/fold-up.

I haven't ever actually purchased a metal one (I'm assuming these are metal), but the PVC ones that I build cost me about $10 a piece to build, including the bowls and the Vet Wrap, lol. The Vet Wrap takes a beating and usually all needs replaced once every month or so, no big deal though. They don't seem to chew on the PVC, the end-caps, fittings, etc. My Senegal is the "chewer", him and my female Quaker, but they are content to work on the Vet Wrap or one of the toys hanging from them, which is fine with me as long as they leave the actual stands themselves alone...

Stand arrived today, $110 shipped from Amazon (drop shipped from Mango) which is the best price by $30 I've found. Much lighter than I expected which is good, I thought the steel tube would be heavier. As MonicaMc stated above, it is possible to knock it over...but more likely just unsteady, especially with a crash landing from a large bird. Nike will be fine.

She seems to have accepted it. Placed it in front of the screen door and enticed her with some seed. She ate for 5 minutes and immediately took a bath...I guess she's happy with it....I am as well.

Thanks Al!

I just about died when I saw this pic! Check out Jean-Claude over here doing a full split between two stands! And the look on his face, like absolutely nothing is amiss. Like this is just what happens on Tuesdays. Hahahahaha! High comedy!

Always love seeing pics of the beautiful Nike, Bill! And I'm glad she's taken so eagerly to her new hangout. Looks like Daddy did good, huh?

Speaking of Jean-Claude, if you have Amazon Prime, check out the Amazon produced series, Jean-Claude Van Johnson. Pretty funny in a throwback kind of way.

Hahaha! Will do! Thanks!

Remember, if you need to stabilize the weight,, very easy to do!
Thanks but no need, Nike is a 200g bird and the stand is more than stabile enough for her.
