Valentino's need for toys is putting me into the poor house. I want to look into making toys for him to help keep him engaged and entertained when I am not with him. For six to eight hours each day he is in his cage for his independent playtime and I am running out of ideas and toys for him. I just bought him a new foregoing toy on sale and he loves it. I am looking into making him affordable SAFE toys he can have in his cage.
One favorite toy he has had since he came here is from Mother Pluckin' Bird Toys called Berry Sticks but when I saw "A Day at the Beach" my eyes widened and wanted it but at the 38 dollar price take I thought I would try to make it myself.
What is Paulie rope that MPBT uses in the above toy? This is the plastic kind of string/rope that they use and I think is wonderful. Very safe for Valentino not to get hung up in nor does he "eat" it. Anyone know where you can purchase Paulie rope?
I learned that Paulie rope is safe to use for parrot toys. From Berger's Baby Birds that has this rope states "The unique twist of this Superior Poly Rope prevents unsafe lengths of fray. Also, polyethylene fibers do not have a "memory" like other rope; this prevents entrapment and limb strangulation caused by fibers such as nylon or unsafe cotton rope." I wonder if this is going to be something I will have to order on line and will not find locally.
Also would love to know where people are getting a hold of the plastic animals that are safe for birdie to chew up. Also love to try out some birdie beagles on my boy. See if he would actually chew on them. I would like to give a hand at making my boy some high quality toys. Hopefully this will be a cheaper way to go for me for now.
