Making poison residue inert?

I had a lot of those motels out, and for MONTHS... We never saw any reduction in the indoor ant population :(. Sounds like a good idea to put something additional inside the motels as a couple of you mentioned as an attractant. Otherwise they seem to ignore it and just walk around it, not inside.

I think there are LOTS of colonies around here. I was petsitting neighbors dogs, and they had ants too. With so many colonies and queens, it's practically impossible to permanently erradicate! I'll just be happy if they stay away for a month at a time. I think I'll TRY and guess where their port of entry might be, and start with the gel, backed up with motels...

What is it about grits that keep them from coming back?!

You can Invest in an ant eater....I hear they make good pets.

I have Advion gel from doyourownpestcontrol.com. I know it works for me. I'm going to call them again at 10 where they get out of their meeting and ask them about it and fids. I will let you know.

They said don't let birds eat it. Once the pests have eaten it the area is safe. If it worries you wash area with soap and water to remove any trace residue

Thank you! So thoughtful of you grace :). I do think I'll use the gel.

Now, as of this week they've disappeared again. It's hard to tell where the point(s) of entry is until I start seeing more ants, ugh.

The weather is crazy right now. Back and forth temps. When it's hot for days on end, that's when they appear.

When I first asked about this in the original post, I had no idea I'd get this many good replies! The ant bait products, detoxification products, strategies, etc... The Anteater :52:... Thank you to all for your help!
