So I soaked my beans last night and cooked them along with the brown rice and quinoa after I got up this morning then later started my husband's crock pot (stew) I only do this 'cuz I love him to the moon and back it skeeves me out for HOURS to touch red raw meat (dead flesh:eek:).

Then chores around the house, Brady's new cage came in, put that together and set up with toys and perches. Went to the store and the bank. THEN started the rest of the chop. Now I LOVE fruits and veggies and being able to use my chopping block and my birthday "Shun" knives yes I was over the moon for them as a b-day present they are wicked sharp, top of the line and actually scary if you don't have excellent knife skills! I just put on the head phones and my i-pod, pored some wine and I am in heaven!

My chop bowl is 22 inches across so it's huge! I decided this time to make my beans, rice, and quinoa separately and freeze it separately. Then make the veggie and fruit chop in their own freezer bags that way I could thaw out separately, heat the beans and rice a little longer than the veggies and fruits which I would rather not heat too much. So we shall see if I will like this better I think I will.

The chop included:
Mango
Cranberries
Pomegranates
Red Grapes
Pineapple
Chia seeds
Pine nuts
Calendula flowers
Bee Pollen
Chamomile flowers
Rose-hips
Hibiscus flowers
Endive
Zucchini
Cabbage red and green
Dandelion greens
Arugula
Broccoli
cauliflower
red and orange sweet peppers
Bok choy
Ginger
Sweet potatoes
beets

I am embarrassed.. all that and you can see I didn't take the trash out!

How long would you leave that in the cage for? A few hours? til that eat it? I've been making a mash but adding fresh lemon juice to help it keep longer/provoke my bird to eat it.

Do you ever give your birds chicken?

Jeeze Labell, after all those tasks & chores you had to do, we're taking our life in our hands, aren't we? An old, white haired lady, tuned out on her music, sipping her wine (was that red, white, fruity or dry ? ? ?), handling 'shun' knives.....that's a bit dangerous, don't you think?

You know, I usually un-thaw things that I would rather not heat too much too ! ! !

Yep, I've found that priorities somehow get rearranged when I'm into my cups, but it sure is tasty ! ! !

Though I got started several years before you, I've only got a few greying hairs, nothing white yet.....

You mix the fruit right in with the chop and freeze it? Thanks Laura for the ingredients and the pics!

That looks great! I just have to ask, doesn't wine help everything??

ZephyrFly; Breakfast is served between 7:30 am and 8:30 am depending on how late I stay up, lunch is around 1 pm or so and then around 6pm they get a little seed as a snack before lights out at 9:30pm I don't add lemon juice or they turn their beaks up at it, stinkers! My house is not too hot so it has never been an issue.

Skittles74; LOL I eat mostly the same as the eclectus so it helps quite a bit.

Pinkbirdy; Yes because my hubby eats meat and I do eat fish the birds are offered meat occasionally except pork of course.

weco; It was Moscato I like the bubbly fruity stuff and remember mad knife skills for an ole gal! :D LOL yes I thaw out, but my spoiled crew likes breakfast warmed in either coconut oil or red palm oil so it is nice to add the beans and rice to the pan, get that warm then add everything else to cool it down and warm it slightly rather than cook it. Lunch is higher in fruits so that is served room temp to the darlings.
Genetics made me skip the grey and go straight to white very young I might add, first long white hair at my temple was at the tender age of 18

Sunset_Chaser; Those fruits yes, there are some like the ones listed but others that just don't freeze well that I add fresh like kiwi and other softer fruits. Same with veggies mine love celery but it freezes really bad so I only put that in fresh.

4dugnlee; It is true wine helps most things!:p

Whatever chop I make there is always a few ingredients that get thrown in fresh as well. Just to keep life spicy and unpredictable for the little darlings.:)

Replace that wine with caramel vodka or spiced rum and that chop would be perfect.

Thanks for the recipe!

That looks AWESOME! Zilla would LOVE it! :D (except the broccoli, she throws broccoli out as fast as I can toss it in!) :(

I am absorbing all I can about ekikie diets and care so I can be sure I would care for one right in the event I do get that sweet little guy! :D

Oh I make a spectacular spiced rum and pomegranate juice mixed drink but there are no playing with sharp knives when the rum is out!

I should add just so I don't come off as a lush, I am a super lightweight, two to three glasses of wine and only one or two mix drinks and I am quite done.

Mango's waiting to see if you are going to invite him over for dinner! He would be wallowing in that bowl like a bath in heaven:emoticonc!

Come on over Mango, then you could make goo-goo eyes and kiss-y noises to Jillie in person and enjoy some yummy chop as a side benefit! :07:

You just had to bring Jillie up now, didn't you. Now you've done it! He's already picking out the rattan ball he's gonna bring to share with that beautiful Jillie! Gonna have to padlock his cage at night and when i go to work from now on! :D
Well, at least you didn't post her pic too;):54:!
