At the end of September I picked up a large pumpkin from the grocery store, not really having any plans beyond it being a decoration.
But knowing now that pumpkin is good for birds, today I decided to put that pumpkin to good use. First I gutted all the seeds and put them in the oven to toast for treats for the fids.
I then scraped out and chopped up the rest of the pumpkin. Which was not a fast or easy job. I then chopped up a couple peeled and cored apples, grapes, carrots, celery, green beans, broccoli, and corn. I then dug out my old food processor and ground it all down to a healthy mash.
I packaged up about 30 baggies of mash. Of course I still plan to give non frozen fresh veggies. But it's nice to have the mash all prepackaged out. It will definitely make it easier on days I have to work!
