I'm trying to imagine a happy hut big enough for a mac
Hormonal behaviour wouldn't be an issue, since yours is a baby and it will be several years before it's sexually mature, but I've never heard of a happy hut for a mac. A hammock is another thing. I'm pretty sure Tab's Fargo likes hammocks.
Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
What I've seen and heard about are those cat tubes... Some macs like those things. (Fargo.) They are like hollow tree nests...
Mine don't.
I actually knew someone who made a macaw hollow tree out of one of those oak barrels. Got a full oak barrel (the kind they cut up and use for planters.) Cut a hole in it, draped a cargo net on either side of it, and attached a manzanita tree playstand to the top of it...
WHEN THE BIRD WASN'T LIVING ON IT, HE WAS LIVING INSIDE IT...
