So after last valentines fiasco my boyfriend wants to try getting me a macaw again. If you haven't read my thread in new people fourm its prety much he got me a green wing for valentines i had pneumonia so he was keeping it at his house until i was well and his mother accidentally let it get loose and is pretty sure a hawk or eagle got it. He lives waaay out in the woods and there are a lot of them out there.
After doing a little of his own research, not enough but some, hes convinced he wants to get me a baby baby, thats on two or three feedings day.One because it cant fly off on him, two he thinks HE'LL be able to bond better with it if it starts out small,(he thinks their pretty but is afraid of the beak) and three the price. Four he read somthing about free flight training going better if you have then when their babies, And after having one get loose and not come back, i can see why but i'm skeptical.
I used to help my grandfather feed his cockatoos. So ive had hand feeding experience. He had a pair that where suppose to be two boys, SURPRISE! Anyway that was Years ago. I know getting a baby that young has a lot of risks and that a macaw feeding is a lot different from a cockatoo feeding. And i'm hoping some opinions other then my own will dissuade him from this, cute as little fuzzy babies are.
Has anyone heard of or done business with a place called Blue ribbon pet farm. Other then the two info videos they have put on youtube about them selves i cant find any other information or reviews about them. Anyone have a Breeder that i could point him topo instead, they would recommend? I do eventually want to foster or rescue, but i want to start out with a baby so i know abit more what to expect, if that makes any sense
