Mac is home!!!

I am not exactly sure Ham is very happy about it ... I think it will be better as soon as they can interact with each other ... I think Hamlet is upset because he knows there is another birdie in the house and he can't interact with him ... We are going to get Mac a "well birdie" visit on Thursday after that and if all looks good from there I think we are going to interrupt the quarintine period. This decision is based on:

1.) It's a pain in the "tail feathers" for us.
2.) We got Mac from our friends at our favorite parrot store (www.parrot-safari.com) and Hamlet has been to the store for boarding and we know that all the birds are healthy.
3.) Mac being "long clipped" makes it almost impossible to keep him in one place, unless he is closed in his cage ... and we don't like that.
4.) With only one of us home, we can't interact with both of them at the same time and that isn't fair to the other birdie.
5.) Mac has been in a cage with like 6 or 7 other green-cheeks for the last 2 months, and now he is in a cage all by himself and he looks lonely.

If all is cleared by our Vet (and we know it will be) would you all do the same thing? Are we jumping too quickly? Is a 10 day quarintine adequate in this specific situation? Any input from you guys would be wonderful.

I think thats fine if the vet says everything is alright and stuff.

yep I've never quarinteened although as i get more birds I'm sure I will. We have the small house and the birds have to be in my room or outside so it's always made it hard. and Meghan I've also learned the art of playing dumb it is a wonderful thing to know.

LMAO yep. :D :D :D use it ALL the time. well not ALL the time but alot....

Congrats Tex, Christy and Ham!!! I think your going to really enjoy the little one. I never quarantined before, i should have with Kodie and Sqeaky though, but never have, and i got 7 birds in the house! Man, im terrible:D

As Hamlet has been boarded at the same place then its fine, I didn't quarantine Bucc and Kito, (was going to) but in the end decided that it was pointless, I had taken Bucc to meet Kito, before hand, I got them from the same place, and we both use the very same Vet.
I think I would have let them mix before hand,

Quarantine is on the whole a great idea, but realistically its a pain in the rear, You can only interact with one at a time and they have that way about them to make you feel guilty about spending it with the other. :D Go for it they'll be fine.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Mac is fitting in wonderfully ... and he is already causing trouble ... but that's only becuase the humans around this place aren't used to having a birdie that has mobility ...

Are you gonna leave him flighted? Thats gonna be so much um let me think, oh yeah, fun for ya :D :30: No really.

Next step after that is to have Ham flighted, just thing of what the guys can get up to together.:D

He's not 100% flighted ... he's "long-clipped" he can fly ... but not very fast and not for very long ... I want to get Ham to this point because Christy and I think that Ham may have been clipped before he was fledged ...

Oh that would be horrible, the nice thing though is to watch him "learn" how to is amazing, they are so unsure but the urge is just too strong and off they go, its an awesome sight. Just to be able to have the limited flying ability is great and such good exercise for them. I'm sure they'll have a great time.

Maybe we'll even get some flighted pics of Hamlet and Mac??????? :D :D

I can promise you flying pics of Mac pretty soon ... Hamlet on the other hand, we are going to have to wait until his flight feathers grow back in!
