I have some neurological problems and last night I forgot to close her cage. I woke up feeling very dizzy and dazed and felt as though my head was being crushed. Amazingly, Lucy climbed up the blankets and onto the bed and came over by me. I've only had her 4 months and although she's bitten me pretty good, she must love me. It was truly magical. My grandma's Senegal parrot once flew over to her and stood on her squawking when she was having a heart attack. I am really proud of my girl and so are my parents. My mom found me with Lucy right next to me.

Years ago I had an adverse reaction to some medication, and Sally, my red lored, stayed up all night, perched on my chest watching over me...

They are empathic... they really do seem to understand.

Birds really are amazing in that way. My pionus(closely related to amazons) will literally cling to my shirt, with feet and beak, if he feels like I'm really anxious or just really upset. I've had anxiety and depression issues for years, and he surely can tell. Even if they bite us or yell at us, they do love us. :)
