Hello everyone,

My lovebirds laid their first clutch, the 7th egg was laid on 10th of February. So, the hen has been sitting on the eggs for 23 days now. Should I give up on the eggs or should I wait more?

Any suggestions?

Candling them in place was very difficult as it is very tight. Is it ok to remove them out of the nesting box to candle them? I heard if you touch the eggs then the hen will not sit on them anymore.

You can touch them, that is a myth. Just be very gentle.

I just did and they all look like infertile :(

If they still don’t have veins by this time they are infertile, but I would let her sit until she gets bored to prevent her from laying again.
